As an FYI, all the Chicken P. McStinksalot (or similiar) emails ARE spam, and email address harvesters. They are short, and non-sensical to attempt to pass any spam filters you might have, and when they don't get back a Daemon error that the address doesn't exist, they add it to a list that they sell to real spammers. So it is not a trailhead at all, its just a phishing attempt for live email addresses.

Damnit!

In the interest of completeness, you really should post that picture up here.

I mean, just in case it's stegged or something.

Yeah.

No, I'm fairly certain it doesn't have a stegosaurus in the picture. Maybe if I look harder though, like those "hidden pictures" they had in highlights....

looking this over carefully....

I got an odd one the other day - no sender address or subject or content. Checking the source gives:

As with the other messages, my money is on it being spam to test whether my address is live or not. Alternatively, given the fact that I only seem to have received part of the message, it could just be someone's software/hardware playing up. I'm secretly hoping that it's a spammer with hardware that's not working, as blank emails make a pleasant change to those suggesting my manhood isn't big enough, or that perhaps I need larger breasts (I mean, c'mon; make your minds up spam-guys; just which sex do you think I am?) Wink

P.S. the XXXXSPLATXXXXXXXXX.net is me hiding my address - I'm still getting junk from the one time I mistakenly posted my address in a forum two years ago Sad

I'm guessing there aren't many spammers that use e-mails that are over 30 characters. All my e-mails are over this length and I rarely get spam... hope that doesn't mean I miss any trails!

I got this oddity today. If it's spam, it's not very good, since there's no website or anything to go to.

It seems like a possible ARG connection, but I don't know what it would be. A lot of the sentences are quotations that pop up on Google if you search them.

Wow, I popped on here to report one of those non-spam spams as well. (although i've gotten a few of sarah's other ones as well Smile )

Mine has entirely different text than StarkRavingMad, although I found a few of his while googling mine. One thing to note, and I'm curious if sarah's matches, mine also ends with a goodbye in a foreign language.

Weird email: what is it?

I got two weird emails one on Saturday the other on Sunday one from an account in Brazil(.br) the other in a .by Belarus(.by). This account is a normally has very little spam and I don't know they would have got it unless they know my true name.

Has anyone out there ever get anything like this? I don't know what to make of this.

I did not try the email address to see if they bounce or not, but i think they are invalid because I think the domains are but I am not sure.
All the links and graphics appear not to work.

Both messages start with a hello and before the end of the message end in goodbye in different languages.

Tofa is goodbye in Samoan (Samoa)
Lukim iutrifala is goodbye in Pijin (Solomon Islands) [see you to - three persons]

Found translations of goodbye phrases from: http://www.elite.net/~runner/jennifers/goodbye.htm

There's a thread for wierd e-mails and IM messages already. It's a general thread, not for a specific message, nor messages to a specific person. Also, that thread has e-mails that seem similar to these, and the general consensus is that they're just spam-like messages designed to see if your e-mail account is bouncing messages or not (EDIT: IE: if they're reaching an actual account or not).

Okay, I've done all the basic searches and this thing is coming up as "unlikely to be spam" so I'm turning it over to y'all.

The original message just says:
