[CROSSPOST] DVD Distribution (from the PMs)

Elan posted this in the Meta forum:

Quote:
Hey guys,

I just wanted to post a quick note to give the official word on DVD (and bit torrent) distribution.

The DVDs are our gift to the players. They are free and can be distributed to any and all.

We know that it was hard (if not impossible) for many of you to get to the live events where the DVDs were being handed out, and we’re doing our best to set up an alternate distribution mechanism.

In the meantime, it is absolutely fine to post and distribute the bit torrent versions of the DVD. We will try to post an official version on the site sometime soon.

We all know this has been a confusing topic in the last few days, but it’s very important to all the PMs that you guys know how much we have appreciated your talents and enthusiasm in the past months.

The DVD is for you.

Elan

So it's legal.

So far nonoe of the torrents are working... are there any links to functioning torrent downloads?

We need to make one centralized torrent. That's what bittorrent is for.

Unfortunately, the torrent that was originally up no longer exists. So is it possible for someone to post a link to a new torrent?

I'm sure most people would be happy to leave their torrent windows open to help upload the file to others.

The ILB.torrent that was posted on the netninja wiki seems to still be working in some capacity.. Can't connect to the tracker though.

If you have a suggestion on a tracker I can try to start a new torrent.

EDIT: We're supposed to use http://maxxx.is-a-geek.org/ILB.torrent

Still don't know if it's ok to sell, for example, on eBay... Confused

Don't be a lamer

It says, quite clearly, "Not for Resale or Trade" on the label of the DVD.

Unsure as to that aspect. However, I think you could simply sell copies via PayPal that just cost shipping and the DVD disc price. Perhaps you would be allowed to use the 'buy now' feature on eBay, but, once again, legally that may not be possible.

That's because doing that gets something for the person (money or goods).

Posting a free torrent is neither selling nor trading. Wink

Read the whole topic before you reply to one post. The 'not for etc etc' part was in response to the 'still don't know' part.

I'd be more intimidated if he had a graph.

I think a garter belt would really only work for Jan or Dana. Razz
