thanks very much for the thread!

As some of you may, or may not know, the GPAA is the Greater Pittsburgh Axon Authority. We currently have 2 members, possibly a third, who will be trying to cover 12 calls at 3 locations, plus 2 crew calls, on Sunday.

WE NEED HELP! The timing of the calls will keep us from being able to be at all of them, running back and forth between phones.

If you are in the Pittsburgh area at all and want to help out or have never even answered an axon before, drop me a line and we'll see what we can do.

Blah. I was really hoping to get out there this week. My car was broke, and finally I had enough money to get it fixed, so I took it to a shop on Thursday. They sent me to another shop because they couldn't fix the problem. I get a call today that the part that I need isn't common and it will have to wait until Monday to be done. Sad So no Sunday axons for me... I'll be stuck at home listening from here.

for the 11/4 calls, DeltinaWildfire and I will be on our way to a training exercize. Someone else want to step up and finish off Pittsburgh right? I can give you maps/directions to the axons if necessary.

Ah, my car's now fixed and I can make a few axons before it's all over. Smile

Is anybody else planning to hit any of the Pittsburgh axons this week?

edit: no idea why the link tags aren't working, sorry bout that.

Ekim: I sent this to you via PM too, but figured I'd post it for anyone else going out hunting.

---------

Here's what I know. First off, the town names are wrong. Ignore them Smile All 3 are in either Oakland or Shady Side. I will refer to them by the incorrect town names though, as it's easier to keep them straight that way:

10:54 PST Pittsburgh:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=decimal&latitude=40.43580&longitude=-79.95763
This GPS is slightly off. Within that triangle formed by Zulema, Blvd of the Allies and Bates is a building that is partially a Best Western Hotel. There are two pay phones in the lobby there. You might not see them immediately, ask the guy at the desk if you have a problem. The phone on the left is the one that rings.

12:01 PST Wilkinsburg:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=decimal&latitude=40.45159&longitude=-79.93288
This is the one in Shady Side. The GPS is almost exact. The phones are maybe 15-20 feet down Filbert off of Walnut. It's 2 phones, and i think it's the right one that rings. DeltinaWildfire wrote 'axon' on it in pen somewhere, though it's a little hard to see the mark.

13:18 PST Millvale:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?latlongtype=decimal&latitude=40.45748&longitude=-79.94152
This one is somewhat close to the North of the previous axon, maybe a 20-25 minute walk. This GPS is pretty close on too. The pay phone is on the sidewalk on the left side of Liberty Ave as you nead northwest. You'll pass a Goodwill store just before it. If you get to the post office you've gone too far. This phone is marked with 'axon' in pen too, but again is hard to see. You can see a (rather silly) picture of it here:
http://www.pitt.edu/~cmh42/haefele_deltinawildfire.jpg

Oh and I almost forgot: try not to let the one on Filbert ring too long before you answer it. Del and I had a problem there once, it rang once and then stopped.

Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes and happy hunting.

Great. The more the better. Smile Are you going to the Waterfront that night for the DVD, too?

Damn youth

Oh great.
Now Millvale's gonna be tough for me cause I don't really have a ride or money for a bus.

As for the Waterfront DVD, I should have a ride but it's gonna take convincing on my part. I'm gonna try, can only hope I make it out there.
Raspberry

If anoyne wants to offer a ride leave a message here or on aim:loco chocobo44

2/3 hot axons in Pittsburgh today.

I showed up at the Best Western axon about 15 minutes early just to be sure I got it. I was waiting in the hallway when one of the desk clerks walked by. She mumbled something like "Waiting for your phone to ring?". I nodded and smiled politely. Then a few minutes later, one of the administrators walked passed and smiled, then I guess she realized what I was doing because she turned around and said "You know, I hope you don't plan on bringing a group of people again. This has got to stop. I can't have a bunch of people hanging around outside of my office every week." Ouch. =P I told her it would just be me today, and that this will probably be the last week we'll be answering that phone.

So the axon rings and I pick it up, recorded message, and I head off to catch the 12:01 axon. Everything went smoothly there, enhottenated it, and then I got a call from home saying I had to come back. So due to personal matters, the Liberty Ave axon was left cold.

All in all it was a fun first day. Now I have to go running around until 8:15 when I'm heading to the Waterfront for the DVD. I hope to see some other beekeepers there. Anybody going?

I still don't know if I'm going.
Does anyone know what we're looking for?

I'm going.

9:46 PM.
I went.
I got the dvd.
I realized I don't even have an X-Box and there was no point in my going.
Sucks don't it.
