Chapplet I can't seem to get the "chapplet" page to load the chat app for me today. (Yes, I'm aware that there are other options for IRC, but) I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with that page, or if it's solely on my end.

Hmm. Odd. Won't load for me, either.

I can't open the IRC chat page. All I'm getting is a little red X pic. Any suggestions? I've never had probs before, but it may have been one of the kids at the computer fiddling with something they shouldn't have been:)
It's been doing this for a couple of day.

it's a java applet. There are toggles that will turn on/off Java (and Javascript which is totally different).
In the latest IE browsers, it's under the Security tab in Internet Options.
In Mozilla, it's directly under the Advanced tab of the Preferences.
only thing else I can think of is to try a regular refresh (f5) or a hard refresh (ctrl-f5?).

if all else fails, we'll have you turn on your java console, and see if you are getting any java errors.

In Internet Option/Security/Custom Level, the java thing is on High but not disabled. I'm unsure if it's always been this way, as I don't think the kids would have touched anything in there.
What's a java console?

So what's next...do I need to lower the security, or something else entirely? I noticed that pages with java aren't displaying as they should.

Under V iew, you can click java console, with will open a new window.
When you go to the chat page, when it tries to load the java code, it will display any errors on the java console.

I haven't a clue what I'm doing....I don't see a "java console" anywhere under V iew or anywhere else. I even tried to view the chat via Netscape and was told the site was trying to load a plug-in. So I did the whole kit and kaboodle with downloading some sort of java plug in and when it asked which browser to default it to, I put IE. Went back through IE to the chat and I'm still getting nothing but the little box in the left upper corner that has 3 symbols in it. So I tried accessing it via Netscape and a purple bar is showing with the following above it:
Exception:java.lang.NumberFormatException:0_01-ea
Argghhh...lol

Mozilla also gives me the same thing, with "Applet cs notinited" at the bottom of the browser.
but as far as IE goes, I give up. (this is where I suggest mIRC)
especially since it used to work.

Thanks for trying to help sap...I do appreciate it. I went through some "help" files at MS, but I'm not about to start friggereing around with the registry. I wouldn't have a clue what I'm doing. It's not just Unf. chat, it's java everywhere I go now, but it's only been like that for the past few days. Something must have been damaged somewhere.
