Our friend ouroboros Unfortunately I have some sad news to share with everyone.
Early Monday morning, Matthew Schuler, known here as ouroboros, took his own life. He was a dear friend and an active member of many communities, both online and off, and he will be deeply missed by many, many people.
If you're in Portland, Oregon, the memorial service is 1 to 4pm this Saturday, May 18, at Sandbox Studios, 420 NE 9th Ave., 97232.
If you'd like to raise a drink to him, here's a recipe for a cocktail he loved, the Aviation.

A good friend, an ARG player from back in the day, a more recent player (and designer) of puzzle hunts. He helped introduce me to people at events when I felt too introverted to talk. He introduced me to fantastic mixology and sous-vide cooking. He was the team lead of two puzzle-hunt teams: Gospel Tentacle Revival and Goat Masonry. He and I started on Game Control for Puzzled Pint the same night, about a year ago and we've been going to weekly planning meetings ever since, both celebrating the good stuff and stressing over deadlines, but always with a pint and a smile. There is a Matthew-shaped hole in my heart and he will be missed.

I've never met ouroboros in person, but long ago, we played so many great games on these unfiction boards together. I recall the intelligence and sense of humor conveyed by his words.
My deepest sympathy to friends and family for their loss.

Over the years, I had the pleasure of playing a few games with Matthew and chat with him online. Several years ago, I sort of provided online help for him during one of the many puzzle/scavenger hunts he participated in. Unfortunately, I only met Matthew in person two or three times, but he always went out of his way to say hello. From our brief encounters, I could tell Matthew was an extraordinary person. My thoughts go out to his family and many friends, you have truly lost someone very special.

Such terrible, terrible news. My thoughts go out to Matthew's family and friends.

Sad to hear about his passing. Remembered him from back in the times I was here playing. Sad I won't get to play anymore with him.

WOW I haven't been around for a few years, and today I just decided to pop in for a look.
I didn't know ouroboros personally, but I did play along side him in the years past, and I will remember that time fondly!

I wish I would visit unFiction often. I played also ARGs with ouroboros together and he was very heartful and interesting person, even if I haven't met him IRL. My deep sympathies, also now, years later...
