Guys, watch the giant images that break the formatting, please. I took the liberty of editing your image to just the link Uniquename, hope you don't mind.

Huh. This went a direction I wasn't expecting it to go relatively quickly.
First of all, this is not, in any way, a "vlogs vs. blogs" thread. Quite the opposite. This is about finding the merits of the medium you don't examine as often just because you prefer the other. It is about bridging that gap. Trying to find a solution that brings the two groups closer together. Because in the end, aren't we all here because we're interested in the Slender Man? (Unless I'm absolutely off the mark here)
But anyway, I...would not personally recommend crossovers. Crossovers are more alienating than anything. They tend to either create a complete lockout or simply provide a nice little nod. People aren't going to follow another whole story just to understand what's going on in the one they follow, and they're not likely to check out something that's not hugely important to the plot.
I have a suggestion, though it's just that. On the Slender Nation, there was a popular thread that was based on an older, less popular thread here. The purpose of the thread was to rate series as bad or good, and the better series would rise to the top while the worse series would sink to the bottom. I think that it would help if there was a place to rate blogs and vlogs. That way, people looking at getting into vlogs can tell the good from the bad, and people getting into blogs have a place to look. It's just a suggestion, but I think it might work.
Also, allow me to take an aside for the rest of the post.

Blogs aren't as interesting as vlogs. Text is only scary when the writer can paint a picture with their words, not hastily spit out some text in a blog format.
As someone who writes a blog, let me just interject here and say how insultingly this is worded. I don't know if you meant that intentionally or unintentionally, but I (and other bloggers) put a lot of effort into crafting stories and images through text. A lot of us have to try harder, especially since we don't have that visual representation to work with. Those of us who have any dignity as writers do not "hastily spit out some text." We work hard at, as you say, painting a picture with our words and using the medium to our advantage. I don't imply that all vlogs are just people filming the ground and rambling about nothing with distortion randomly thrown over it, because I know that making a vlog takes a lot of effort. Please don't disrespect writers by assuming that everyone is just throwing words together with no rhyme or reason.

Given someone shopped a photo of the WBC asshats to support their "blogs are dumb" views, I think a rating site would be rendered useless by trolls in about thirty seconds. If that.

I agree wholeheartedly.

This right here is why I dislike trolls enough to cut back my visiting of Unfiction. Put simply: If you're only posting to amuse yourself by pissing other people off, just don't fucking post. I don't give a damn who you are.

I would call this an unsuccessful troll being successful, because Alex is just being ridiculous, not even a troll, but people take him as if he is one.
Alex doesn't really hate blogs, since DH has a companion blog, and he is the author of his magnum opus, Black Elephants In My Kitchen. He is just "trying hard" to create a meme of sorts, and everyone is up on his shit about it. Be chill guys...

I've given a lot of thought to these recent posts, and have come to the conclusion that there are, in fact, too many vlogs! No more vlogs!

Mods.. can we just like... most all of the not-on-topic posts to the troll thread, please? Forced memes are terrible and, intentional or unintentional, it's making people feel uncomfortable and kinda gives off the vibe that people shouldn't read/write blogs :l

Okay, fuck it. I give up.
I come here to try to offer a solution and to bring two communities closer together and get met with trolling and mockery. So it's a forced meme. It's still offensive and belittling to those who have put in effort, especially since there have been a lot of legitimate anti-blog sentiments. It's just not funny and is in poor taste.
This thread is doing the opposite of what I intended. It's giving the impression that it's "funny" to belittle bloggers to the vlog watchers and it's giving the impression that vloggers are huge douchebags to the blog readers.
Now this has hit the Facebook groups and the Tumblr community. You've lost a lot of respect from more than just me. Not that it really matters since the respect was clearly never mutual in the first place. If it were, I'm pretty sure the meme wouldn't have been forced or the backlash wouldn't have been so bad.
This clearly isn't working, and I'm not going to waste time on a lost cause anymore.
