Tumblr Page

Just started following the Trail this afternoon. Did some digging of my own on the tumblr page because it bugged me that no one was looking there.

From the xbox profile page for Cassandra, we got a link for the dugway survivors. Nuclear and Chemical warfare testing grounds. This is also the first picture on the tumblr page, but is not a link.
EDIT - She picked the portion of the dugway website that said it hadn't been updated since April 29th 2009. This is the exact date that the world was informed by the CDC that there was a Swine Flu outbreak after 91 people had died.

The heading for the tumblr page is "Their Projects". This tells me that Cassandra might be using her tumblr page to communicate with us through pictures. I know there's a way to hide things in images, but am too tired tonight to look for my programs that rip them apart.

I don't understand most of the pictures, but did find out some info on a couple of them.

Flower drum song is a musical about a girl going into an arranged marrage in China. Since it's the soundtrack, I think maybe the lyrics of one of the songs might have a clue for us (again, too tired to do this tonight).

Whistle down the wind is a movie about a girl who finds a man in her families barn (stable), who she believes is Jesus. He's actually a criminal running from the cops. Based in England.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whistle_Down_the_Wind_(film)
This ties in with all our bible references somehow.

The last thing I noticed was that the "Devils Hole" picture was the only one that was clickable. Might be a clue to dig deeper into that photo.
Devil's hole is a giant crater created by overactive Thermal activity in New Zealand.

Haven't figured out what HI and LO mean. I live in Hawaii and was thinking it might pictures of Hilo (city), but I thinks that wrong.

I think the overall point so far on tumblr is that merg-x is "Global". China, England, U.S.. We might need to figure out where all these places in the pictures are.

Also, I don't think we should give up on the DOS promp on the Trilon website. She's said that she's already hacked Trilon. It has to be from her.

Seems like every “ARG” that I try to get involved in turns out not to be an ARG or just dies off. Just when I was ready to call this one a goner – it picks back up.

Ript – I noticed all the things you mentioned about the tumblr site except the connection between the date and the swine flu outbreak. I thought maybe the 100,000th visitor part might be important – but not sure how. I have a friend who used to live in Hilo – so I wondered about that too. Also the HI picture looks to be high in the hills and the LO picture shows a low valley. And there are some people who would look at the first and/or last pictures and say “nice rack.” Not sure how it would connect to Trilon - but you never know.

As far as the DOS prompt goes – I tried a few commands using my patient number from the email requesting a pic for the ID tag. Maybe that’s too specific, and I should be looking for something more general.

So I guess I’m still curious about Trilon/MERG-X. Hope it's worth it - we'll see...

^this.. and I did think of stegganography type problems with these photos but ..well I guess i'll look more into it..the only other detail about th epictures is that they all have a _500 in the name accept the hunting photo which has a _400?

Unless someone more qualified than me? Have some steg programs already? Confused

At this point I dont know if this is some passionationate person producing a ARG or a group:

A collage student doing some type of thesis on chemical compounds in our everyday products.

A group trying to make the pharma process known.

One of you fine folks producing your first ARG. Wink

I will say it has quite a grip. I am very interested in what were trying to find out.....buuuutttt they do need to reel us in a bit more...more cheese even if its a reply from our main char that states they are watching us.

Idea ...jane needs a cheese emoticon

I once again forwarded the email to her, and asked about the command prompt.

Yes, after trying a couple dozen commands I arrived at the same conclusion.

Sadly, this is what happens when a game tries too hard to be clever -- players suspect they should just give up. I was able to enter something into the command box which returned something other than 'fail'. However, I succeeded by digging thru the source code for the form's javascript, rather than solving with the clues as given. I can give you a nudge, or I could simply spoil the whole process. I'm not playing this ARG, so I do not know whether you were intended to 'hack' into their 'computer' the way I did. (I suspect not.)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First I saw that the javascript is doing some comparisons on what you submit, and giving the 'fail' response after an if-then-else-then condition, so I went looking for where the test text is stored. Opening a file in the right way gave me some text which contains the passphrase and a bunch more text.

The passphrase is something in plain sight on the tumblr or a blog (i forget which), so perhaps that is how you were supposed to find it. But how to pick the words? One phrase among many? That seems like brute-force to me.

I will say that you are looking for a multi-word input, and uppercase matters.

No this is very helpful, I did not want to decrypt flash files or SMASH SMASH etc.... IF.. IF... we didnt have to Wink but this shows there is some effort being made. Thanks hon.

Hm. I tried a few things from the tumblr to no avail. If I have time later, I will do some more.

So it seems as if our pictures are our passcode?

It looks like on dugway.net the phrase Whistle Down is a project that links the Whistle down the wind picture.. So I am guessing flower drum or drum song etc.. beach ..uhh ?? Hunting...

I am popping in and trying to be involved with family at the same time Laughing

I might be way wrong but seems liek the pictures are projects?

Ok will try more in abotu a hour.

Right maze, wrong case. I did mention UPPERCASE matters, just as the words appear on the images you are referencing. (and for that, i will add to your rant.)

I've been trying it all with uppercase as well.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Is it a combo of more than one of the phrases in some order? I haven't been able to get any to work on their own. Maybe I'm doing it wrong/missing something else?
