F.F.E.Y.-T
b/c instead of Valentines, I get trailheads :P

Uhm... so, I got an email saying that someone sent me an e-Valentine at 123greetings.com (yes, a reputable enough site, or I wouldn't have clicked it):

Check out the card here: http://www.123greetings.com/send/view/02214411316744050706

It says:

Quote:
My name is F.F.E.Y.-T. and I would like[with my friends] to wish you a good day.

Just a little something to let you know you are being thought of.

And will be thought of again this year...

Forest Frederic Edward Yeo-Thomas

Email addy = forestfredericedwardyeothomasSPLATyahoo.co.uk

Which you know... seems a little sketchy, especially when you consider that....

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

This FFEY-T dude is a DEAD GUY!

Dude, next time, send flowers or some choco hearts. Wink

Could this be related to The White Rabbit/Away from Wonderland ARG?

Seems like every game refers to the White Rabbit in one way or another.

(Yeah, I know... I have been and continue to be a culprit of that myself. Smile )

I have a very strong hunch that this is a new, unrelated game. Very.

If I'm wrong, apologies, and we'll get this merged.

Also, I can't seem to decode the string by the usual methods: base 64, base 32, base 16, and octal, so maybe someone else will have better luck?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You have to decode it twice. The ? is not a base64 character so I ignored it. Result:

HINTING.

I also agree, this is very different from the other thing with the rabbit, which incidentally seems to have suffered some kind of problem.

Moreover, Mr. Yeo-Thomas can send me a valentine anytime. More WWII cuties, plz.

As in, that's what they called him during WWII, when he was out speaking French and punching Nazis in the face. See: Wikipedia.

I'm in. Got the same email but actually dismissed it as spam (I tend to get a lot of random emails from Russia nowadays... *wink*).

(its most definitely not related to the Wonderland ARG).

I have a feeling this will be important:
Quote:
He died at the age of 62 in his Paris apartment following a massive haemorrhage. He was buried in Brookwood Cemetery, Surrey. In March 2010 his life was commemorated with an English Heritage blue plaque erected at his flat in Queens Court where he lived in Guilford Street (sic), Camden, Central London.

Note: The plaque was erected 31/03/10.

I sent an e-mail to him and got this in response --

Odd - I do not recall sending you a card. However, one of the recipients may have shared so we are glad you like it.

Would you like to be thought of later in the year as well...

Dear Jane,

We hope you had a nice Valentine's Day. May we inquire whether you shared your card with others? We have no problem with such - just wondering how someone saw the card as we received a comment about it.

Indeed I did, uhm... Forest, is that what you're called? So excited was I to have received such an affectionate letter from one so err... well, deceased... that I could not help but share it with some of my acquaintances. No doubt they wish to receive such attentions as well.

It was quite a lovely card, and I do appreciate receiving it. Though, taken aback was I, even dumbfounded.
Jane

I'm unsure how to decode that, I'm a novice, but that looks like different code than the last two emails.

Nevermind, got it :

So far, theres been a couple of allusions to a twitter account.

Theres the AT in:
AccesswillbelocaTedsoonxxx

and then:
HundredsoffollOWersxxx

So, I guess we should start looking for a twitter related to the game.

Unless we are supposed to be getting the message

"HINTING AT HOW"

Shall we merge the two topics, moderators?
and
Should I send an e-mail to him... I'm quite worried...
