If you are logged in -- and there have been no replies to the thread -- you should be able to delete your own topic. I forget where the X button is, and I forget if you have to first go into edit mode to do it, but I do know you can delete your own posts. When you delete your post which is the first-and-only post in a thread, that deletes the thread.

 		X button is on the bottom right of your post. You can delete your own post as long as no one has replied to it.
