The files seem to be filled with a lot of control characters. I wonder what they are supposed to be? The contents of Beth's scrambled PDA, perhaps?

EDIT: Not just control characters, but strictly zeros and ones. I'm going to run them through a quick program and see what I get...

This is sounding extremely Matrix-like...

The "tent" reference has got to be to Beth's incident with the bats and her tent that she talks about with Kat.

Code:

<communication protocol="cg://ara9975.lka18383">
   <bootstrap interop="standard" value="true"/>
   <interware status="err259"/>
   <message type="response"/>
   <idiom_detection confidence="0.6" value="true">
      <result status="failure"/>
   </idiom_detection>
   <object>
      <object ref="sender" class="human">
         <property id="mind" type="unknown"/>
      </object>
      <status value="not_found"/>
   </object>
   <response type="boolean" value="true" confidence="0.6"/>
</communication>

Very Happy

This could be refrencing the man who she saw standing there who did not answer her. Class = human, mind = not found, therefor he could not react or respond.

Also, the filenames are timestamps.

Begins at 10/31/2003 at 17:29:12, ends at 17:30:11. The Aquapolis incidentlogs carry a similiar filename structure.

It appears to be code, perhaps the code that the Matrix uses to interpret human speech/thought. Did this come from the other man in the area of the tent?

[wild speculation]

This is nutso... Is it possible that the disturbance on Beth's PDA somehow "caught" some communication between the man and... dare I say it... the Matrix? The stuff reads like things that the man could have seen or been acting out. The big thing that leads me to that is the fact that he didn't understand Beth or attempt to talk to her. We see a couple of references to language not being optimal in the code.

[/wild speculation]

Okay, I'll try this again. I have the files downloaded and unzipped. But what do I open them with? Notepad? Help me out. I'm barely computer literate. Or is this a job for hackers only.

I don't think that is a WILD speculation. Sounds good to me.
