Okay guys, I sent him a message asking him to let us know when he found the key. Here was his reply:
Quote:
(1/2)Found it but it broke in half in the lock. Had to bash the thing open on the concrete floor. Found a bunch of notes inside. Might be crazy but I think
(2/2) the gnomes kidnapped me.... to teach them to make more gnomes? Check blog in a few mins
What do you guys think?

I have reason to believe that will be the case.
And I do love the interchange that's going on between the IFILR and Socks, Inc. Very Happy
Thanks to me! lol it's a lot of fun.
Richard opened the case and he uploaded what he found on his blog. Haven't looked into it since I'm at Borders and the connection blocks photos D:

It's three photos... One of them is of the case. Another is an IFILR document that talks about one of their covert missions, and the third is of 7 post cards to and from the gnomes. I'm working on transcribing them but the handwriting is a bit sketchy.

Okay, here's what I could get. Some of it was too hard to read.
Quote:
Postcard 1
To: Station Commander
From: President Gnome Choamsky
Expect Barrel to *unreadable* in the area. He's been chosen to lead operation mobilize.
Postcard 2
To: Choamsky
From: Station Commander
Barrel sir? Is that the best choice? In any case, we'll start with setting up for Operation Mobilize.
Postcard 3:
To: Pres Choamsky
From: Station Commander
I hate to say it, but there's a hitch in the plan.
Postcard 4:
To: Station Commander
From: Pres. Gnome Choamsky
To address this issue, we need to come up with an alternative quickly.
Postcard 5:
To: Station Commander
From: *unreadable*
operation mechanic was a success also can we please use another method my current *unreadable* makes it incredibly painful to write.
Postcard 6:
To: Pres Choamsky
From: Station Commander
We lost Barrel. Not sure how to address the issue. Haven't seen him since we sealed the warehouse. This is not good to say the least.
Postcard 7:
To: Station Commander
From: *Unreadable*
Is cummin soon dunno wai we uzing dis old system to talk
Edit: And here is what the official document says.
Quote:
IFILR
Operation Mobilize
Prerequisites:
In order to insure the success of the operation, a team of agents in our human footwear special intelligence unit must be inserted into the upper echelon of Envirocorps population. In addition, a storing facility in use by Envirocorp that is stocked with manufacturing machinery must be overtaken.
Operation Overview:
The force of gnomes stationed on the eastern seaboard must be dispatched to the New York tristate area to look for viable storing facilities to take as mobile camps for the operation. Afterwards, the machinery shall be moved to a secondary camp in order to begin operation conscription. The Storage facility where the machinery is found is to be sealed shut from all outside contact in order to avoid evidence of theft.

Okay, heres what I think: Operation Mobilize is an operation that if pulled off, will allow the gnomes to walk?
It sounds like the warehouse that Richard is in, is the one that they referred to in the mission brief. They stole the machinery and sealed Richard in. Also, according to postcard 6 Barrel went missing about the time they sealed the warehouse. Could it be that Barrel is trapped inside with Richard? Maybe we could get Richard to set up a trap and catch Barrel?

Here is a conversation I had with Richard:
9:13 pm
Me: Could you help us figure out what this postcards say? Some of the pictures are a bit blurry.
10:03
+144844666342:
sure, tell me which one you need a closer look at. would take too long to type out all of them.
10:09 pm
Me: The one thats turned sideways, and the one in top left corner. I can't quite make out all the words.
10:13 pm
+144844666342: Can barely make that out myself. Looks like that person (gnome?) can barely spell.
10:13 pm
+144844666342: Says: to station comander ??? from director east ops barrel gnome iz common soon dunno why we uzing dis old system to talk
10:17 pm
Me: Okay, thats what I though it said, but I couldn't tell who it was from. I suspect judging from the other messages, Barrel is in the warehouse with you.
10:19
+144844666342: wait, so this barrel is a gnome?
10:20
Me: Correct. It sounds to me like they were stealing your companies machinery for some sort of operation.
It took place in gmt -6.... so about an hour and a half ago.

Wow, I made a dent in the game introducing sock puppets! So, guess what I voted for?
As for the postcards, the method is strange. Why communicate through snail mail when they have twitter NO the internet, period. Also, I wonder what this Operation entails. I seem to be close to one of the gnomes so I'll inquire about the Operation Mobilize and how it will benefit the inanimates.

I went to a late showing of Predators tonight (Great movie if you were a fan of the original, don't expect anything groundbreaking though). I noticed I had a text from Richard.
Quote:
Okay help me make sense of the stuff I found inside. Posting on blog, takes a long time
It's too late for me to respond right now but it sounds to me like its time to let Richard know what the IFILR are. I can start a dialogue tomorrow unless someone else wants to do the honors. I feel like I've stolen the show a bit today.

Well it sounds like after he spoke to me, he went to you... so if he asked you, you should respond.

Ditto. Am laffing bigtime while checking the handwriting samples on the postcards so this could be off. Could postcard 5 read??

Whatever's next, super stuff/solves in all the above posts and this forthcoming "Operation Conscription" sounds imo pretty harsh.

I texted him about 2 hours ago but no response yet. It took a while to get a response to my first text, though. It may be that the PMs are taking a day off or working on something else at the moment. I'll be sure to post any responses I get.
