I thought it was a given that he was talking to him in present time. I mean, if he can transmit the files from the device, what's to say he can't transmit live TO the device?

Only problem with the theory that Observer was talking to Noah in present time is that the sound file was found when he connected the device to computer at the library and it was shown that the sound file was created in March.

I'm pretty sure the Observer has some kind of power that is beyond reason.

Observer could be trolling him and have simply edited the "date created" information, but that might be getting into OOG territory.

This. Those kind of things are really easy to modify.

Not necessarily, unless you download one of those sketchy file date changer utilities.

Awesome entry. The Observer's voice was really well done, and quite frightening. Gotta hand it to TribeTwelve for always coming up with something novel to add to their videos, like technology, and to do it consistently well. I also find it really creepy how those dates on the files are all back in March.

I'm not too well versed on how the guts of USB flash drives work, but running with Ed's quick explanation: if you were only connecting the power input and had no access to the data input, then there wouldn't be any way to save the info transmitted through those wires, right? And since Noah snapped those same power wires before repairing the data wires (which link to the memory), then the saved file of the Observer rant would've had to be created before Noah heard it the first time, because even if you assume that that rant happened in real-time, Observer would've been left with no way to save it on the USB itself.

Does that sound right? Are there ways around this?

Personally I just think the Observers knew what Noah was going to say and do before he did it. Either because Noah is incredibly predictable, because Observers are precognitive, or because Noah is also an Observer.

Reading the transcript, I actually think where the Observer stands in relation to time is pretty fascinating. The sound file was supposedly created when Noah was abducted following the Nature Trail visit, and it does in fact refer to Noah being in the forest "an hour ago", which'd make sense if it had been recorded then - but at the same time, it talks about stuff happening right then and there. So perhaps the Observer is outside time altogether, to the extent where at least some of the Observer-extensions (the ones talking on this particular sound file) see things not as an orderly progress from past to present to future, but as one big present - and so their ability to speak sensibly to people with a viable time sense is hampered.

Wow, loved the latest video. Tribe Twelve is really picking up again.

My 2 cents on a few of the points of contention:

- I think the multi-pitch voice of the Observer is to signify that it is indeed made up of multiple people, of both genders. This is also supported by the fact that the message begins with "my child," signifying that part of this collective could be Milo's mother/Noah's Aunt, who would look down at him from that perspective. The Observer has never addressed Noah like that before, which further supports the fact that different entities comprise it.

- I really don't think Ed is part of The Observer(s). The last frame of the analysis video could signify that Ed is in serious trouble for getting involved in the whole situation. Sure, The Observer apparently knew Noah had/would cut the wires, but it also knew exactly when Noah swore. So, obviously, The Observer is communicating with Noah in real time. The message even said that "the walls have sensitive ears," meaning he was listening to him at that exact moment.

-Even if you don't buy that The Observer is communicating with Noah in real time in the message, let's not forget that The Observer was standing right behind the corner during the device analysis when Ed told Noah to cut the wires. That's another way he could have known.

-In the forest "an hour ago" could very well mean Noah's nightmares, where he also sees the eyes watching him. It wouldn't be beyond belief that The Observer knows when Noah is dreaming.

By the way, I loved the Plato's Cave reference. The Observer is a smart cookie. I'm interested in hearing about how The Observer is apparently some higher form of life than Noah and the rest of us.

Edit: Noah's been tweeting the contents of the device, including the sound files, pictures, and the text file picture of the observer. Could there be some messages coded into the text, or is it all for the sake of making the picture?

Those names seem to be Latin. And, according to Google Translate:

AURIS: Ear
OCULUS: Eye
CASSIUM: Nothing (literally)

Oh and while I have the thought in my head and i'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet.

Maybe the Observer is just re-emphasing the fact that he think's Noah sees and hears nothing

Ed isn't targeted by the observer. that was part of "soon, we will have you again." I liked your point about the observer being at the analysis a lot. It makes a lot of sense. I also didnt realize the platos cave reference untill i read that
