Vote for my comic!
FSURobbie needs some uF support!

Hi Folks,

So I know this is a bit off the beaten path for uF but I am doing the artwork for a comic submission for the Small Press Idol competition. My partner and I have made it to Round 3 (out of 4 rounds) but we need public support to continue to move forward in the competition.

Let me back up a bit though...

Small Press Idol is an online competition for the independent comic book community. The competition consists of 4 rounds and the final winner wins a lump sum, an action figure based off of their main character, and a publication contract for their comic. Voting for the competition is two fold: first contestants must get two of the three judges to vote Yes on the entrant advancing to the next round. Next contestants must garner enough of a public vote of support to show the book has a significant enough following to warrant it moving forward.

This is where I need you wonderful folks to come in and, hopefully, offer votes of support! My entry, Cohort, has made it through to Round 3 but we desperately need votes of public support. To do so is remarkably simple, all you need to do is join the site's forum (free to use) and then go to our thread and vote that you support it by clicking the appropriate radio button! Voters can vote once per day for as long as the round is open. If I only had 10 people who voted for my team's entry daily that would make a HUGE difference.

Obviously, I don't expect you to vote blindly and if you prefer another title over mine than just don't vote! Wink

Hopefully the wonderful community here at uF will lend my team a hand and help us move on to the final round and into a publication contract! For those of you who feel so inclined you can register with the forum at the following URL and vote, DAILY, for Cohort:

Small Press Idol Forum Registration

Then, once registered, you can vote for my title at the following thread:
Cohort by Ronald Montgomery and Robbie Smith

Also, those of you on Facebook can become a fan and enter for a chance to win cool prizes, like a free sketch by yours truly. Become a fan here:
Cohort on Facebook

Regardless of whether we win or lose, thanks for reading this and for any support you can provide!

Rob

Hey guys, to those of you who have taken the time to vote, thanks! If everyone who has voted could continue to do so that would be a huge help and would be appreciated more than you know.

Those of you who haven't voted, please consider doing so!

I'm debating do some type of prize for uF folks as a thank you for helping out, what would you guys and gals be interested in: original art, ARG Swag, dinner and a movie? Laughing

I don't suppose the "Snake Lady" or the one-legged stripper are still around, though. Wink

Thanks so much! Registered voters can vote once a day, for every day of the round. I really appreciate all you folks coming out and voting for me, it means a lot to me!

Hi Ebook,

Thanks for the vote, I really appreciate it! So far Ronald and I have been working on Cohort since early January. A lot of that work is unseen as it has been spent on drafting and redrafting the story and the characters, but it has been a pretty steady second job so to speak.

As far as producing the final book, I'm not sure exactly how long it will take in the end but I usually average about 2 comic pages (4-6 panels) a week. I could crank out more but the full time job I normally work mixed with the time restraints of everyday life greatly cut down the amount of free time I have to work on the comic.

If I can keep up that rate of speed though it should only take 2 weeks or so to get the 4 pages for Round 3 drawn and then they will be off to our new inker/colorist to finalize for posting.

Thanks again for the feedback and voting!
