[TRAILHEAD] Interdimensionalgames

Happy New Year all!

This morning labfly tweeted a link to a PR announcement for a new ARG:

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2010/01/prweb3387074.htm

This apparently launched on 01.01.10 and it's for an upcoming video game, maybe?

Anyway, here is the website:

http://interdimensionalgames.com/

Very pretty flash, etc etc... I haven't explored it fully but I played with it for a while and managed to do a couple of things.

Spoilered for those wanting to explore for themselves, although I haven't done much so far:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I managed to create some kind of "anomaly" by clicking on the Earth, which changed the site into this 'game' [sorry, hard to describe] where I had to click on the little orbiting satellite thingies in order to bring up these abstract symbols and then place the symbols into the right boxes [sorry, really hard to describe!].

[EDIT: I'm trying to recreate what I did to get this 'anomaly' but haven't been successful]

Once I got all the symbols into the right boxes, the site changed again and I was eventually taken to what looks like a Windows desktop. On the desktop there is a recycle bin with clues to the password to the "Internet." After you figure out the password (google is your friend), you are taken to a 'blog' which basically recounts the history of the Earth from 2010 until 2028. That's the backstory, I guess.

Oh yea, and there's flashing date for 2028-03-01. I don't know if that's January or March.

There's other stuff I haven't looked at yet.

EDIT: or maybe the video game is part of the ARG? Here's the 'company' blog: http://company.interdimensionalgames.com/

hmm looks interesting but no matter where I click on the earth, nothing happens, is there a specific spot on it?

Well I managed to get it to happen again, but I'm not sure what to tell you...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Eventually, the satellites disappeared and instead the Earth became surrounded by these faint gray graphical bands with the words "Target: 21" above. At that point, hovering over the Earth always gives "Anomaly" which I can click to make everything go kablooey.

However there must be cookies or something because when loading the site now I can't get the satellites to reappear -- instead it goes right to the 'anomaly' stage, and also when I click on the Earth it now bypasses that symbol arrangement 'game' and goes right to the fake Windows desktop.

Wow that's really pretty.

Try clicking Project B6 at the top. You get more stuff and this. Sumerian cuneiform, anyone?

Edit: agree w/ danteIL about cookies because I think it added a ... decorative haze around the earth in the other screen after I viewed project b6.

But then it broke my browser. :/

Okay so i hard refreshed and that seemed to reset things. However, I still have a heck of a time figuring out what triggers the anomaly stage.

I did discover that if you click on the Moon you get the little analysis thing at the bottom like with everything else. BUT if you click on the message that says "!EVENT! CAPTURED" above the little moon graphic, you are taken to another page with funky moon graphics -- but little else that I can see. To return to the main page, I clicked on the target thing in the middle.

EDIT: maybe it's on a timer? anyway, here is a clip of what the earth looks like at the Anomaly stage:

I got to the "game" that danteIL described by the following (spoiler involves everything I have seen/done):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I click the "about" at the top left corner, then click the "Back" at the top left within the "about" page, then the "game" starts.

Click on floating symbol to reveal them, then drag them (trial and error for me) back to the suitable "box" (it turns white on correct combination). The combination can be found in the Project B6 video, launched from the main site's top row interface.

When all done, animation plays of the universe and the UI getting destroyed(?)

Then it will launch a Windows like interface.

A message will prompt: "Hello Seeker"

The desktop environment has "Worldview Industries" as the wallpaper.

A "clock" that said:
Milestone 3
2028-03-01

In recycle bin, there is a psnote.txt with this content:
"A house.. one enters it blind, one leaves it seeing?"

You can get the answer by Google-ing.

Click Internet, and username is auto-filled with "Seeker".
Password is the riddle answer.

Then you can access the blog of "Employee 1195", detailing the world history in this ARG.

When try to exit the desktop environment by clicking "End", if you click Cancel when prompt for confirmation, you can communicate with an unknown someone.

Edit:
Add more info as I explored.

Edit 2:
Made correction as reminded by diszaster.

I've gotten through the journal entries and it seems like the name scribbled through the entry on pange 2 of journal 2 seems important, although I haven't had much luck making a connection. I also tried looking up the Obsidian Weapons Research Corporation to get a line on that personal energy field doo-hicky, but turned up nada.

Sure is slick though.

My discoveries on Project B6...

My discoveries on Project B6...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

1. Unknown male creepy voice saying something I dont understand.

2. Hover mouse on Earth will get a strange symbol overlay on the Earth.

3. Sometimes, hovering mouse on Earth long enough, the whole screen converts to the symbol of the Bishop chess piece.

4. Many small strange symbols like the game on interdimensionalgames.com are there. Click each of them will launch a new browser window/tap with OOG information, usually about science, resource, and energy.

5. Some time the screen will become a rolling Earth in black.

6. Clicking on the bishop symbol returns you to interdimensionalgames.com

Anyone discover anymore secrets from Project B6 ?

Edit:
Add point 6.

@kevinmik Putting the symbols into sequence in anomaly isn't trial and error, it's based on

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
boxes that show up around specific symbols in Project B6

@diszaster Yup I realized that now too. But obviously I experienced the "game" before checking that out.

Well I had a theory, based on this part of the 'press release':
Quote:
"This technology is made possible from our satellite 'iDGi-1', which we have positioned very close to the moon's orbit. When the moon eclipses the sun, casting the earth in shadow, in that precise moment, interdimensional travel."

that the 'anomaly' period would occur when the moon is positioned over the sun, but after waiting *forever* for this to occur (and it seemed to be timed to the music), there was no anomaly at that that point. Hrm.

Maybe there exists multiple possible trigger point/events, and the game will randomly select one for each "not-played-yet" visit. After experiencing the abnormaly, the game record it in the user's cookiee or something.

I deleted my cookies and yet nothing is helping, it may even be one chance oriented, I did get it to work the first time I was there but my browser froze and now it won't work at all, so I don't know.

Taken from the ProjectB6 page, this to me looks like a substitution code [edit: or some form of cuneiform]:
(I would try to annotate which ones appear in that orbiting symbol game, but I can't seem to get access to that again.. grrr)
[got a black on white screenshot for better printing]

I just waited for a while, with this symbol slowly forming over Earth, until eventually, when I hovered over Earth, the "Anomaly" option appeared.
