[BLIND] I am blind (Trailhead)

I did do a search for this but couldn't find anything... It was posted an hour ago on ARGNet.

Quote:
We got a weird call late last week that, at first, I couldn't figure out. After asking the staff to help decipher, they discovered that the breathy, computer-generated voice was telling us us that we were "alone in the darkness" and instructing us to send our mailing address to 1003SPLATiamblind.org.

Moments ago, we sent our snail mail addy to that email, so we'll see what happens. While you wait, why not head over to http://www.iamblind.org and mouse over the center image, where multiple voices seem to be filling in the blank in the statement, "The last thing I want to see is _____."

* * *

Aha, a quick update! That email we sent just a few minutes ago bounced back. We tried with two other addresses, fearing that Gmail was the problem, but alas, even an email from my ISP-hosted address came back with an error. Guess we won't be getting a Christmas card from the I Am Blind folks. Aw, shucks.

Not sure what's going on w/ that email but yeah just thought I'd tag this up.

Edit: forgot to add the mp3 file of the weird phonecall. It can be found here: http://www.argn.com/images/iamblind.mp3

[SPEC] Blindness

Later this month the movie Blindness will be released. It's based on the novel of the same name written by Nobel Award winner Jose Saramago. I've got no idea if it's related to the above site, but it seems like a reasonable possibility. Here's the IMDB page about it:
http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi1844248857/ Loved the novel and am looking forward to the movie.

[Still Speculating]

Just read the first couple of graphs of Chapter One (linked below) and see what you think. You'll see "i am blind" there, so I suspect it's for this movie.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Here's the wiki but don't read this page if you want to see the movie without being spoiled:

Whois Info

I did a quick whois search for the website and got that the registrant organization is Domains by Proxy, Inc.

So, no real help there...

Another tool I use is http://www.myipneighbors.com/ which can show you what other websites are/were hosted on the same server box. You need to know the IP address of the website you are researching (in this case, 208.75.85.109)

This one tells me that this IP address was used in the past for these other websites:
godstilllovesus.org
k2aorange.com
This is no guarantee that the same people are behind iamblind.org

Thanks catherwood....as usual Cool
The embedded sound file on the iamblind site is titled "1003.mp3" so that's where I also sent a gmail.....

Hoping it doesn't bounce(hasn't yet) and that this is indeed something connected to the Blindness (the White Sickness) flic which I'm keen to see asap.

amandel, have you read the novel? If not I think you might enjoy it. Not all of my friends appreciated my recommendation of it. One found the lack of punctuation and character names maddening, but I think it's worth the effort.

No need to be embarrassed as I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only person on this board to have read it or even heard of it. And that came about because several years ago I was catching up with an old school friend who'd just finished reading it, and she thought I might like it. I expect Julianne Moore will be wonderful as the doctor's wife.

[Double posting for good reason]

Just saw an ad for Blindness on aintitcool.com. It says, "In theaters on Oct 3," which fits with the 1003SPLATiamblind.org email.

Nice find for a first-time poster evanly--welcome! I checked youtube this morning, but they hadn't been posted yet. Looks like it was filmed in LA because the bus says DASH.

I think the words in Chance is blind are: life truth love faith pain lust war sin pride hope truth fear hate sex greed time war rage god logic trust beauty peace art wrath murder rage joy envy

Other YouTube accounts: http://www.youtube.com/user/jamesslash1 and http://www.youtube.com/user/LennyDillane. Both were created on the same day as iamblind and contain different videos.

ETA: Wait, the videos on the 2 accounts are just the same ones from iamblind with different titles. Is this important, or could the other accounts be fake or something? Neutral

Not sure if it helps but after wondering around LA on google maps i found the 3 outside locations.

The metro station is Pershing square station the women crossing the road in on S Grand Ave and the person driving the car is on Harbor FWY.

You can see exact locations on a shared google map here
