Limerick Contest 2: Cthulhu Boogaloo
Spukhafte Harder?

Over 6 months with no word,
No tweets from our "little bird",
So with nothing but time,
Let's make up a rhyme,
Since keeping up hope is absurd.

If we have entries, I'll come up with a prize.

Book Three began with aplomb,
then stopped as if hit by a bomb.
Our emotions were spent,
We proceded to vent
At VentryOutpost DOT com

aplomb:
great self-confidence; self-assuredness;
imperturbable self-possession, poise, or assurance;
great coolness and composure under strain

So they say that our game is ephemeral
Cause its updates now skew towards biannual
But a part of me needs
The RSS feeds
While another part has held its funeral.

Never was much good at limericks,
Better with novel-length gimmicks
But with 8 months gone by
And no more noise than a fly
I wonder "will there be more than these mimics?"

Chillin' in IRC chatter
My good mood these mem'ries to shatter
One hears Melissa's goodbye
All I can hear is Jen's final cry
And I think "do these words even matter?"

An indescribable scream I release
My torment I hope I can cease
And then conflict comes in
Bringing creativity, its kin
And I pray "can this writing give peace?"

The anticipated climax was coming
We could hear the dark cultists humming
Then before the eclipse
The game hit a glitch
And-

"An ARG 'bout Cthuhu, oh boy!"
As an ARG n00b I cried out in joy.
But curse this hiatus
That's making me wait-us,
For cultists this world to destroy.

They built us the ultimate game.
We drooled because of their fame.
A lot of us bitched.
The project, they pitched.
Leaving us all feeling lame.

Cthulu - of course my ears perked
Though a lot of players were irked
They gave it a go
The going was slow.
Now I'm glad I just lurked.

Shh! We're napping, don't disrupt us.
Your promises will only corrupt us.
The experiment's a dud.
Remember the MUD?
A case of game interruptus.

Not a limerick
but it will do

Lovek went to Orlando F.L.A
Out of town and working on his Birthday
Didn't bother GMD
Hoped they're working on EE
He said "hey fellas, drop a line to the player side"
"hey guys, let us know if more characters died"

And the crickets go:
"chirp chirpchirp chirpchirp chirpchiturp"
etc.
