[WITG] What is this Game (trailhead)

found a link a while back on ARGn....and nobody posted about it on here yet so i thought i would

www.whatisthisgame.com

seems very argish to me...especially considering if you pause the flash on the page at the right time, it leads to a press release saying that it is an arg, and the sign up starts on Halloween and the game starts on new years eve as far as i can tell...apparently its got some pretty good prizes going along with it

again if this is already being discussed then please feel free to put this where it should go

A countdown to a countdown? Suck.
Otherwise it looks like it could be interesting, although I am extremely skeptical.

What is this Game? Answeerd

OK, What is this Game is a game starting up to promote the new movie What is this Movie made by Magi Productions. As of now, it is only a press release and the game has not yet started.

On October 31 of this year the staff will open up registration. ALong with that the easer for the game will open which should give you the first bunch of clues about how the game will run

On January 1, 2008 the game starts and the trailer for the movie is released.

This ARG has a prize, whomever wins gets a cemeo, staff of the film, an invitation to the premiere, and the answer to the game's ultimate riddle.

Thanks for posting those links. It looks fun, so will consider it on halloween. The dates are a little untimely for me - usually busy on both Halloween and New Years Eve, but hoping I can catch up.

I hate being patient...

Anyway, from what im guessing about the story it is going to be something of a horror-esque game. It says in the press release that it will contain alot of violence and gore. I like that they are actually going to have a prze to this game. I like the idea of an incentive or motivation.

I don't. I think it pushes people to keep their mouths shut, in the hopes that no one else will figure out what they have.

I suppose it could be a kind of "prisoner's dilemma", though. If you share info, but they don't, you lose and they win. If you don't share, and they don't, you both lose. If you share and they share, you both win. Well... "win" as in get closer.

I think its a good idea. It adds a new element. Now we are forced to choose what we should share with the audience, what we should tell to a select few, and also what we should keep to ourselves in a hope of winning.

If you are gonna have a game why not make it interesting. Makes you have trusts, alliances and enemies that dont develop in the normal ARGs.

New blog up explaining somewhat why there is a 2 month registration period. I don't know about this - they said they have to verify the info on every single person before the game starts for one, and they rest they still can't tell until halloween. I will have to see what they want first before I give out my info to a stranger.
