I think the coordinates on the Dearther page are:
1. Whitewood SD
2. Sundance WY
3. Lodgepole NE

Triangulation Weird voices on the radio... There is weird, garbled talking on 27 MHz (HF). You can pick it up from all three nodes.
From node 1: Azimuth: 150.0
From node 2: Azimuth: 110.0
From node 3: Azimuth: 347.5
We need to triangulate this, and we'll get a coordinate, or possibly a name of a place...
PS: It sounds like a repeated message of people talking on a radio (like you see soldiers do in movies). It's garbled, and you can't understand it. I don't think you're meant to. It sounds like a foreign/alien language to me...
ETA - Finally, an area I can contribute in. I actually know quite a bit about radios, frequencies, and such...
Low frequency signals are less directional. This means that signals on low frequencies can be picked up pretty much regardless of azimuth (which is a fancy word for: "the direction you point your antenna in") This is what made this voice thing easy to find.
When you get up to the VHF and UHF ranges, you won't pick up the signal unless the azimuth is just right (this has to do with the fact that low frequencies travel along the ground, and high frequencies travel through the ionosphere... don't get me started).
So, for the higher frequencies, we need to actually know what we are looking for...

Node 1 is not in a particular city. But it is near the cities listed above:
I'll post the maps on the Wiki.

Maybe I'm just trying too hard to hear something, but part of the repeated message sounds like "Thunder Mountain...do you copy?"

ill check other nodes
node 2 verified at 185 azimuth

Weird Talking - the audio file. due to popular demand Here it is. I tried mucking with it a little (and god knows I have the right tools for the job), but no real result. It sounds a little like cross-band interference to me (which means the actual talking is on a higher frequency, and on some lower freqs, you can hear a garbled version of it...
Anyway, there is some major triangulating going on by xnb right now, so keep your fingers crossed...

That cackling sound is just dead air. I listened to it for a while, and it's just random cackling. I've heard this sound before - unfortunately, it's just dead air.

no
if you access all 3 it's a repeating message
the whole thing has a little click to it
and WHY would it be there on a channel if it wasn't something to explore.
i think the 3 combined makes something, i just dont have the software to capture the 3 streams. (and the 3 streams do not overlap, they seem to merge into 1 noise.. that's odd.)
Why have dead air on 1 channel on the whole area.
and doesn't dead air have to originate from SOMETHING broadcasting?
ANYWAY check it out
frequency 8
node 1 = az 195
node 2 = az 185
node 3 = az 236

Hmmm... I tried that with the talking, but not with the cackling. Good thinking. I'll get to it (I can capture streams as well).
PS: I wasn't trying to be offensive. We're all friends here in Tooman land
ETA - I don't know... I got all three of them open, and I can't seem to hear a message of any kind... Maybe we can try and triangulate this too...

what sound capturing software do you use? I'd like to get one for things such as this.
it honestly sounds like a repeating code to me. not sure what one but it is repeating.

Triangle Man, Triangle Man Does whatever a triangle can Het found some pretty cool signals. Specifically at 27 MHz, with azimuths 110, 150, and 347.5 from Nodes 1-3. It sounds a lot like talking. And it triangulates rather nicely (although not perfectly, zoomed in it forms a triangle of about 1/2 mile length on the long direction, but this is to be expected with the angles incremented to only 1/2 a degree).
EDIT: It centers over about N 44.16 W 103.32, or Blackhawk, SD according to my sources.
EDITED AGAIN: To add various missing words.
