That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Nevertheless, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Okay, lets see if I can say this with ought being really dumb. (no im not asking the TROUT question haha) Its just, i do not quite understand what is going on here. i joined so i could take part in the cloverfield discussion topics, but some of this seems very much more in depth then i thought. then i heard mention of a game. I HATE sounding like some newbie internet guy, (I hate when people join the other forums im on, and do not know what their talking about) but I couldn't exactly find a topic with all the information i needed to piece this together. Im lost at slusho. I thought it was just a movie

MRex: bsically, Trout is a polite way to say "Thank you for your idea/suggestion/input, but we are allready discussing that same idea/suggestoin/etc. elsewhere on the forum, and we'd like to keep the discussion all in one place to keep things from becoming too confusing".

BrilliantGreen2: Don't worry, asking something like that isn't dumb. I'm glad you had the courage to ask instead of diving in half-cocked. Basically, this is for discussion of both the movie and the Alternate Reality Game surrounding it. As for specifics, I'm not sure, you'll have to ask someone else about the story and history of this game, as I just started getting involved in this specific game (allthough I have had lots of experience with other ARGs and with Unfiction in general).

Welcome to Unfiction, by the way! Glad to have you here!

Hi BrilliantGreen2, and welcome Smile

I can understand how all of this might be a little confusing. Over the past months, there's been a HUGE buildup of posts here, a lot of them about the movie, others also about the online 'experience' surrounding the movie and it's kinda hard to distill the right information out of all of that when you come in fresh at this point.

Basically, after the first movie trailer for Cloverfield was released, people found the 1-18-08 website and later on, from there, a lot of other websites and content, which are meant to basically provide some backdrop for the movie's story. Together, these websites form what we tend to call the "Alternate Reality Experience" (it's officially labeled ARG on this forum, but "Game" is probably not the correct term for this).

We have a Reference Forum with a lot of info, especially in the sticky threads at the top. There are two websites specifically that can help you along, being the Cloverfield Wiki on Despoiler and CloverfieldClues.com that should both be able to provide you with a lot of info on what's been going on.

Have fun!

Hey, I'm new to these forums, I just came! I'm also a very dedicated 1-18-08 fan, and hope to be discussing a great deal on these forums! Smile
