What Does Your Name Mean, and Why Did You Pick That Avatar? Some names are evident, others are more obscure. Why did you pick the name you use, and what does your avatar mean?
Me? Well, my hubby followed the Grateful Dead for about 8 years in a VW microbus. We are from TN and still very much appreciate the music. He started the whole internet pseudonym thing with "Tennessee Jed," so I followed suit with "Mountain Girl ." I guess I could have been "Sugar Magnolia " or something....
The avatar is something made for me during recent ARG .
So who are you? What does your name and avatar mean?

There's actually already a thread on that subject in this very forum
As I never got around 'explaining' my avatar in that thread though, I might as well do it now: it's a tiny fragment of the cover of 'The Robots of Dawn' by Isaac Asimov. It's also the book where the character R. Giskard Reventlov originates from.

I guess I'll join in on the conversation, even if my story is boring as sin ...
I guess I just took the name because I liked the sound of it - and because some people that know me may think I'm a tad "off" *shrug*
As far as the Avatar goes, I wanted something to do with the screen name. This particular avatar was taking from an advertising campaign for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida .. thus lending itself to my other obsession of Halloween and Haunted Houses.
Still awake?
I didn't think so

I've already explained that when I started in the computer communication world of BBS, I worked in an immunology lab (experiment on mice) and started out on a macintosh. "Mouse" worked well.
Fast forward to the WWW and "Mouse" was already well known/taken. Taking a cue from hubby "konashark" (we love Hawaii), I became "konamouse" and I'm the only one on the WWW.
The green mouse avatar was found by konashark a long time ago - it's a radioactive mouse (we live in Las Vegas where they did all that nuclear testing years ago). Gupfee found me this cute mouse in a hula skirt (I use that on my flickr page) but I don't want to give up my "nibbles" avatar here in uF.

umm
well the reason for my name... I'd really have to think hard, really hard about that one.... ummm... uh... I give up, but I guess I could explain the avatar
#1 I'm a big Saints fan...
#2 I'm a big Family Guy fan
#3 one of Stewie's key phrases is "What the Deuce" --- Deuce being the bruising running back for the Saints who wears the number 26
ok back to my name... listen I really have no clue why I'd pick this nick, maybe someone could help me understand my inner workings on this?

Well, RedHatty started a long time ago when I first learned of the Red Hat Society, I used it as a SN on AOL eons ago, and well, I kept going to open functions with the society & eventually was allowed to join as a Pink hat (you only get the Red hat AFTER you turn 50 - I have 9 yrs to go) This was actually a big honor, since they don't usually make pink hatters with so many yrs to go, but I am very active with my chapter, so it is all good
The avatar??? Well, what do you think?

Being new to the whole ARG thing, I thought it'd be fun to mix things up by taking a swing at the game Orbital Colony by absconding with the antagonist's name (Igor Bronco). It never went anywhere in that game and I'd had so much interaction using it by game's end, I just never switched it to something else. Ocnorb wasn't a new term to me, either. In high school my best friend drove a Bronco and I had a Mustang, but for reasons long forgotten, we called them Ocnorb and Gnatsum.
My avatar is a blatant rip-off of the logo for a major restaurant chain/frozen foods company called, Claimjumper.
Claimjumper has been my nick for a long time, even going back to it being my CB handle.
I live near Coloma, California where gold was discovered in 1848 and go prospecting as one of my many hobbies (panning, sniping and dredging) and in my work, I deal a lot with medical claims, so the nick has additional meaning on that front.
I do like the avatar 'cause it (in my twisted mind) conveys a sense of getting down to work. Anybody want to help me find a new avatar so I don't run afoul of any copyright/servicemark infringement claims?

I'll jump in... my avatar and name really have no connection whatsoever, except maybe that their inception dates were relatively close to each other.
thebruce... when I first came into the circle of friends i have now, a couple of guys couldn't remember my name for a while, and thought I looked like a Bruce. So they called me Bruce. And it stuck. Being a huge fan of Braveheart as well, I found it convenient that my favourite character who I associated with the most was Robert the Bruce. I liked how his name didn't use the typical "of..."/"from..."/"son of..." or what have you... I've never heard 'the' used in belonging before. As I'm not Robert, I just coined 'thebruce'. Frustratingly, it's not entirely unique on the net, so if 'thebruce' is ever taken, 'thebruce0' never is, so I'm either one or the other.
The avatar? I loved imitating Marvin the Martian ("oh no, the illudium P36 explosive space modulator is missing - that creature stole it!"), so as an art project in high school in the mid-late 90's, I did 3D model and rendering of this pose of his in 3DSMax. I shrunk it (but hate the aliasing), gif animated it, and that's that - my leetle friend .

Well my mother's scottish... and I could say I like bagpipes. But that's about as far as the passion goes If I had the time though I'm sure I'd love to know more about its history. I'll probably do some learning if/when I get around to doing some genealogy/ancestry research on my family. I want to know what my mother's side's tartan is =)

Just so you know, "the" is a fairly standard term for the head of a Scottish clan, ie. "the MacGregor". Still kinda cool, though.
My nick was from the recent ARG/prank the Wyoming Incident, which was my first (incidentally, I used a different nick ingame because that one was banned as a possible hijack ). I don't have an avatar because it's not important to me.
