[S2] [Dice Set] #037 Issue 2 - Cornered

Front:

"Time's up."

"It's just for show..." (image shows a blowtorch in the background)

Thump thump thump

"...The Old Man always carries a gun."

"There's a chance. From the stairs he's 7' away from seeing the door. I'm 20' away from the actual door."

"He moves at 2 yrds/s but I move at 6 yrds/s"

"Can I make it to the door before he sees me?"

The future of the caves is now in question. As well as attracting tourists, the caves are home to the Cat's Eye Stone Moth, which has an unusual quirk in its reproductive system. After death the moths' bodies dissolve and precipitate in the caves' acidic waters. This sediment forms the exquisite Cat's Eye Stone - a shimmering geometrically structured mineral, rather like a honeycomb made of silvered glass.

The honeycomb structure is then crucial to the moths' survival as the noths' eggs can only hatch in the mineral lattice. How the moths developed this reproductive system in the first place is a mystery. No Cat's Eye Stone Moths have ever been bred outside the Maraboria Caves.

Tourists recently developed a habit of breaking off pieces of the Cat's Eye Stone mineral lattice and several chunks ended up in Perplex City, where they were fashione dinto jewellery. This jewellery featured in the fashion pages of The Sentinel and demand for it grew rapidly.

The market price for the stone rose so much that visitors were leaving with their pockets full, selling the fragments and buying homes with the proceeds.

Despite the valued income from tourism, the Town Council is seriously considering closing the caves to visitors and turning them into a mine instead. It is estimated that this could creat ten times the wealth that Maraboria currently enjoys from its tourists.

Re. Moths:

Rhygsveldt Nibbles at Levenay Empire with Local Flavours

That's not the article mentioned, but it's pretty close. The actual article is not available on earth.

Anotehr one that doesn't seem to accept the right answer. Or the wrong one. Anyone had any luck?

Agreed Dafydil, can't get this to accept the right answer. Quite a few of these cropping up so far.... #035, #010#, #033 and (i think) #005. The last one might be my sense of smell but a couple of my mates have had a good sniff and agreed what I thought the answer was.

It seems to be an issue with any card that has a drop down menu to enter the answer. Apparently you can enter them with Firefox, which I don't have installed.

I've just tested this and it's absolutely correct! I'd entered the correct answer for #042 - Patterns of Light once using IE and it wasn't accepted, then used Firefox with the same answer and it has been accepted as being right. Marvellous....

Obviously, the folks at Mind Candy are proponents of Firefox.

I wonder if they get a kickback from all the free downloads. ^_^

50% of all proceeds from Perplex City players go right back to Mind Candy. That money will be put into a fund to pay the person who finds the Gnidinf Dodecahedron.
