[PUZZLE] [SOLVED] [Jan 13] Box 2 - Magic Happens
Los Angeles / Phoenix / Miami / Sydney launch
Event: Sat Jan 13, 2007 10:00 am

Time to start a new thread for the second set of puzzles released Jan 13th.

In fact it would be better to start a new sub-forum for each set of puzzles, if somebody could do this, as there will surely be a puzzle frenzy once Box 2 can be opened.

I expect there will be 12 new puzzles - will the white boxes be relevant this time or will there be more to collect?

[edit - clarified the date of the puzzle box opening - kona]

There wasn't a posting frenzy when the first box was unlocked. Smile

Austin TX. event has been CANCELLED....

Not sure what it means... someone at neowin thought maybe there is only one real event and the rest will just disappear... so to speak...

Not a bad guess.

(sorry if this was posted somewhere else. I put it here as it's box 2 related.)

It also now says that the one for Austin has been cancelled for the second box?

What does that mean?

Read two posts above you, prosaxplayer, it has been posted already. It means it's cancelled.

Ice Storm warnings for Austin caused them to cancel the event. All for the best, really.

Hi. I'm in sydney, so if this is a live event i can make it. I'm not sure what we are supposed to do though.

Assuming you see this post before you would have to leave....

Yes, it's a live event. Most likely, all you will be doing is watching a video of Loki, but that's just spec based on the last event. Then you can come back online and tell all your friends you were there, which is the cool part.

Take pictures of the video clues and rush home to upload them so we can solve the puzzles. Unless you have a vid cam, which would be tons better! Otherwise, the best part about live events is meeting the other people who are there for the same reason. You should run into a few other folks from uF or from neowin. Introduce yourself with your online nick and shake a few hands in greeting.

How long after the first countdown reached zero did the box open, and when was the video uploaded?

The box opened immediately. The official video wasn't posted until a couple hours later, though fan videos hit the net fairly shortly afterwards.

Speaking of which, if I can get a DV cam for the Seattle event, I can get to the UW campus and upload right away through their fat pipe. Smile

Answer to Mind Readers:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
kona got the phrases complete:
partner_____ friend_____ dictator_____ intern_____ = ship
double_____ blank______ bounced_____ rain_____= check
screen_____ word_____ screen_____ horse____ = play

ship check play didn't work as the answer.

KSG figured it might be the same way to get the answer: ship____ check____ play____

The solution is "mate"

Posters

What I have so far

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Taking the number of appearing things as the number and using that to index into what is missing spells SMOKE COMIC:

1 3 Roses
2 1 Moon
3 3 Shoes
4 5 Clocks
5 2 Bells
6 5 Handcuffs
7 1 Owl
8 4 Trumpets
9 2 Birds
10 1 Card

I don't think the number is a phone number - I tried it and 'this subscriber is not accepting calls' was the message.

For the HEADLINER puzzle, the semaphore at the bottom spells OPPOSITE. That's not the answer, however.
