I am not sure as to the proper etiquite for creating a new thread. Not sure if this warrants one.

One of the unsolved puzzles involve what has come to be known as the hangman puzzles. All except one of the puzzles have been twelve blanks in groups of six. The first group of six is long-ways. The second is standing up. One of the blanks is replaced with a letter in each instance.

In an initial batch of mailings, these hangmans seemed to be tagged with numbers. All of the numbers that had a hangman were even. Odds were represented, but had no hangman puzzle.

Those puzzles were 2/8: C, 4/8: V, 6/8: 0, and 8/8: J(?).

Hangmen after that did not have numbers that I saw. The "filled in" puzzle up to date as far as I can tell is:

OG_
FAC

__
_M
VJ/H

The J/H is because there have been two mailings with that space "filled in." One was in the initial batch mailing, the other was more recent. The first went to Lovek, the second to Redhatty.

Above each mailing was a symbol representing opposites. There have been open/closed circles, open/closed eyes, triangles rotated 180 degrees, among others.

It should be noted that on the mailing titled 2/8, the second group was only four blanks instead of the customary six.

Edited to add: A few pages back, requin_devrais mentioned that they got a mailing, including a hangman puzzle, but never posted enough details to compile it here. We may be missing information here!

-- Working on the other puzzles that stand out to me now. It's slow going going back through each one and I might miss things (feel free to point them out) but I'm fully catching back up! --

I hope it's okay to double-post, as I am half expecting these to be moved to new threads at some point.

Numbers on the envelopes! In order of reception:

one one went to SpaceBass and was the first mailing
one seven came soon after to SpaceBass as well
four one went to Lovek
four seven then went to Lovek

Lovek got a package that appears to me to have "10" written on it. It's different enough that I wasn't sure if it belonged. The rest have been text.

two three went to jamieroert
five nine was written on the wood that JohnnyCon7 received recently.

Thanks for getting all the info together negativeview.

One small correction though, jamieroert's "two three" was on the letter that said. . .

I received the wood, and it had "FIVE NINE" written on it. Smile

I edited my post. Thanks Johnny.

By bringing my attention to the contents of that letter again, I am going to have to agree with the idea someone (sorry, I've forgotten who, as it was just read in the process of collecting different information) had that there are white numbers somewhere that we haven't noticed. Ceruse is specifically white (assuming it means the color) and integers are numbers. So those with physical things should check extra hard for white numbers somewhere!

edit: Oops, the word is probably cerise, which is red, and we already have seen quite a few red numbers. Note that the first red number seems to stay constant for a given purpose, so I would assume that that is your number to identify yourself with.

Sad I don't have a number. I never get chosen.

Re: Transcript of the letter from tcotsa
Sorry, my mistake

jamieroert wrote:

Just going back through the letter after reading the last few posts, my mistake, the word could easily be cerise

When I looked at it again, it looked like cerise to me too. So, we're probably on the right track with red numbers.

I think that this refers to the two red numbers on the back of the envelope, has every one that has recieved a letter had a different pair of red numbers?

Hey, I haven't seen it mentioned that this letter also has red letters written in each corner. From top-left going clockwise they are:

TILA
ISWV
MAEE
ELH

I'm working on anagrams.....

Thanks, I edited the post (again). Can you verify that the "10" was written on the package when you got it, and can you provide any insight onto whether that should be counted as a number? Was it in red? (I'm actually colorblind.)

I'm actually not sure which package you mean. Can you point me in the right direction?

That was on the package when I got it. It is black, not red.

I suspect it was put there by the postal service, but could be wrong.

Wanted to let everyone know we've received some attention at ARGN.

So, cool!

I thought I should mention that in a pile of incredibly old mail, I received one of the map booklets. I'd like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by the long delay.

I also wanted to let you know that this delay reinforced my own beliefs that I don't have quite enough personal time to help with the puzzles. I don't want to add to anyone's burden, but I feel that I am no longer a proper recipient of the clues. I will be asking the Committee to remove my address from their list.
