Posting New vs Add

Question.... I'm not 'clear' when to 'start a new topic' or to 'post in current topic'.... for updates particularly we seem to have two different systems going on.... some are all kept in one topic with updates added as they go (Dale's Journal, Bruce's Blog, Library, 3o7, etc) then others every time there is a change a new topic is started..... the lack of consistency has me confused (not that it's that hard to do).... been curious about this for a bit so figured I'd ask.... looking a couple months down the road which makes most sense? how would the 'mods' like us to organize stuff? does it matter?

I'd say the best way would probably make a sub-subtopic (like how we have Puzzles, interactions, etc... as their own subtopics) for each site (Dale's Journal, Bruce's blog, etc...) where appropriate. Only downfall of this would be that it'd be slightly, albiet not much, harder to catch all the updates to the forum.

We started keeping the blog stuff in a single thread for reading continuity - breaking out stuff if there is a puzzle.

Updates for websites (ie. there is a change, go see it announcement) have gotten their own threads since each change brings it's own set of new information & spec.

Related interactions stay in the same thread even if the emails are a day or so apart - if more than one thread gets started and the email covers the same ground, I usually merge the threads.

Including the date of the discovery will help when searching archives in the future.

You're doing just fine. Sometimes when the UPDATE leads us in a new direction I might edit the topic title to better reflect what we have found.

I've been without internet access for 10 days, just got it back last night. The way you all have been doing it is great. It's going to take me awhile to get caught up but it's easy to follow the way it is now. Cool All I can say is keep up the good work and let's hope my phone is fixed for good Laughing (I live in the middle of nowhere Florida and only have dialup available for now)
