I caught on to this Eon8 hyper earlier today and did a little research for information which lead me to you guys. Its been a fun and interesting read and I cant wait to see what else you come up with.
If anyone hasnt noticed though, the http://www.eon8.com/security portion has been hit by spammers, which is at the least amusing.
Aydoo~
You gotta admit though, what they say about YTMND, it's true. True as gospel. I have a feeling my fellow /b/tards are behind this. God I love them.
I'm more interested in the music the guy used on that particular YTMND video for Eon8. http://eon8theinvestigation.ytmnd.com/
Anyone know where its from?
Aydoo~
i was watching that and it listed ctrl + a, well that got me thinking and what if you hit some ctrl + whatever and it opened a new part of the web?

Just rip it out of the source code
Actually I tried and all I could find was "Music from Unfunny truth" which lead to nothing on DC++ Searches and links to Scientology sites in google. Perhaps I missed something.

Okay, it's Viral Advertising by a company called Infinium. They appeared at E3 and also made the so-called "Ghost Console" (lol).
They got hacked by some guy named 'shakes'. And if you go near the bottom of hxxp://www.eon8.com/security then you can see a ytmnd vs. 4chan war.

I know nothing about it, just relaying information Ive gotten. It seems like a variable lead that could use some investigation, and might turn up information in itself.
But as a marketing campaign this would be genius because of how they are logging information.
1.) Collect all IPs and relay where they are in the world. This tells you how many hits you are getting and where they are coming from.
2.) Collect data on sites linking to your site. This tells you what type of people are interested in your mystery.
This gives you an idea how well your product may launch. If for example its a gaming platform, and all the sites pointing to your teaser are gaming sites you know that you have a good audience that may well buy off hand, but it also tells you, you need to push the site in other areas to get the other half of your target audience (eg: the non serious gamers,)
As for the "mysterious" forum posts, this goes along with expanding your fan base to new areas.
3.) On the experation date of your site (eg: when the timer runs out) hit them with your product.
Effectively you have just hit (for example) 100k people with a product, of which who have no choice to view your product because they were curious to see what your site was about. Of that 100k people a portion will buy the product then and there, a portion will not ever buy it, and a portion will have it stuck in their head and may purchase it later. At any rate your product has become widely recognised, and its easier to sell.
Its a marketing department's wet dream for advertising.
