[SPEC][META] Cube handling and storage = possible locale Well, perhaps I'm looney, but what about we start ticking down the type of places we will end up having to physically look in to find the cube, based on it's properties and what we suspect of how people would handle it.
Example: We know it is not likely going to be stored in or very close to the ocean because water is listed as a reagent for it, along with liqud mercury and acetone.
If it's buried, it was either done recklessly or it is in some chamber that should be water proof.
Might wherever it be stored have to scatter it's unique radiation, as to avoid it being pinpointed?
I know I'm tossing out the idea that it spontaneously tele'd itself because it'd like be way to easy to find if it did. It also doesn't feel right.
Which means that whoever stole it probly crossed over with it...so we are looking for an accessable site too..rules out antartica and volcanoes, of course.
Ok..work time...Please, humor me and banter this idea, being as it is our ultimate goal, and might help us puzzle out who would sufficently handle it.
Till again....(I hate 3rdshift/work.)

Welp that crosses out Australia. No more playing this ARG for me. See yas.
... XD
I get the feeling it won't be on any islands due to the fact that it's reagent is water... but it might be a bit soon to start crossing anything out. For all we know, it's somewhere out in the middle of the nowhere, where the people who stole the cube have started a following of the cube, and charge $50 to see it... like those crazy people who live out in the middle of deserts and have their houses devoted to bigfoot, only far more boring.

Crosses out Australia? You don't still believe in the inland sea, do you?
It could possibly rule out any coastal area (though one could still create a dry environment in a coastal region without too much effort), but for all we know it could be buried under Uluru. Let's go dig that up to find it!

Hah, trust me, this is coming from a (fellow) Aussie. All of the cities are based along the coast. And inland Australia is like Antarctica. It's flat (for the most part). Barren (for the most part). And dangerous (100%). It could be around one of the more populated tourist areas, but besides Uluru, there isn't much else out there.
However, I do agree that you could create a dry environment in a coastal region... but you can also create a dry environment out in the middle of the ocean on a boat.

I beg to differ, our ultimate goal is to obtain the cube not just locate it. Locating might only be half the effort, we don't know how hard it'll be to get once we've found out where it is.

I think it's been launced into space. We need to build a rocket and go get it!

You have a point that we theoretically have to obtain it, and even go so far as return it or hand it over to a trustworthy earthly authority upon incapability to return it, BUT, as you said, finding it is half the effort, and I'm willing to bet the greater half.
I can't imagine any truly dangerous obstacles waiting for us at it's point as there could be some extened problems with...say...a cult of looneys with an old russian armament. I get the feeling that obstacles like that won't be our brew to drink. Perhaps finding the cube trapped in some sophisticated security system of a puzzle is more what we could help with in ultimately obtaining, rather than just locating.
Anyone have any thoughts as to the likely-hood of a false locate? I.e. puzzle points to cube at location X but we get there and it's empty, save for another puzzle pointing somewhere else?
Lastly, I would see it being in a costal town, but not on a beach. I can see it under ground, but deep enough rain won't seep down to it and shallow enough to avoid watertable. I suspect we may verywell find it set up in some old seemingly abandoned warehouse, or store, or possibly even right in front of our nose so to speak, as in some exhibit where it looks normal.
Heh...might end up being in someone's yardsale for a couple pence/cents.
Till again...

I can't find the link, but Mind Candy have said that everyone will have an equal opportunity to find the cube, it won't be centric to any one country, as such. But, basically, if they are actually going to bury it then the only people that will be able to retrieve it will be those people playing from that country.
Say it's alongside whatsernames urn in Greece somewhere... what would be the point? I may as well stop playing now unless they bury it in England, and the same goes for you Americans if they don't bury it in America.
It can't work like that.

Interesting, but then could it end up being that when the cube (Which we all believe to be solid, made of mysterious metal, ect) changed form when dimension hopping? Maybe it's now a virtual enity somewhere then? Or a mathematical theorem? *shudder*
Whatever it is, it still supposedly is giving off this radiation the used to pin point it to earth, so...If there is no physical cube to physically find at some location on some continent of the world.....The hell are we looking for? lol...
What else could the cube be if not physical? could it be that each region of the world will have a check point we have to go to with the password and whoever reaches thier respective checkpoint 'finds' the cube?
Oh, and if it is in UK and I figure it out to be there....well...let's just say I'm getting a passport soon....

I remember I spec'd back in the pre-game that the cube may have broken up when it was transported to Earth, and is now in a number of pieces hidden all over the planet.
I still like that idea, because a lot of us would get to find a small cubic section of the larger cube, and maybe put together a puzzle spread across all of the pieces like we did with the 333 codes. And then hopefully Sente will tell us that he still doesn't know how to get it back to Perplex City and we can all keep our pieces.

Ack! Pieces of cubelets? I wanted my 200k for business start-up.
Hmm..which leads on small sidetrack question... If multiple people arrive at cube obtainment/location at the same time.... how does the reward get paid/split ?

The strongest person and/or the person in possession of the most powerful weapon gets to keep it.

Really now... *packs his swords into his Cube-Hunting pack and has a friend with some of that russian armament on speed-dial*
Now if only we knew where....

If the puzzle is worldwide, it is fairly safe to assume that it is as there are stores selling cards all over the world, then there are large logistic problems with finding it. Say an American works out where it is, can't afford a ticket to (say) france, which is where it is, he would have to enlist someone else's help, and split the money., Unfair!
