[SOLVED] #0171 Purple - Witch Script

This one looks interesting, though I've got no idea how to solve it yet. The text reads:

I was in the Academy library recently researching the ancient scripts and languages of Perplex city. One of the many wonderful books I stumbled across appeared to be written in a rare language use primarily by witches. I believe the text is part of a long spell that you might recognize from your world. What does it say?

What follows is an odd-looking scrawl.

I'd hazard a guess that its just text the copied from the:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Voynich Manuscript (see link for more)

namely this: picture

In that case nobody knows what it means, as that book was never cracked/deciphered (althought some claim they have). Without a clearer image of the actual text itself I can't really say much more. Have a good browse around grimoires and wiccanism on wikipedia, or maybe someone else recognises it, could be a form of encoded latin, or something else entirely.

Coincidentally I was expecting it to pop up at some point. Although I could be mistaken.

edit: could also have something to do with the Key of Solomon (another famous/infamous "spell" book), I doubt that its the Necronomicon because thats really just a ph-ake homage by Lovecraft/Crowley. Personally I'm stumped.

ahh, looking into it a big deeper. the language of witches is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Theban (spirit boards)

see for example: http://www.dragonoak.com/Spiritboards/Theban.html

and for the alphabet translation:
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/theban.htm

well now we just need a bigger image of the actual symbols to decode it.

edit: it looks to be no more than say 12 words, so tanner couldve have been right.

Since you aren't allowed to do detail scans, could you please re-scan it as a .png or something? The .jpg compression is not making it easier to read.

The text is writen in theban by downloading a theban font it was possible to compare the text on the card with characters and with the correct starting point a match could be made

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Adders fork and blindworms sting
Lizards leg and owlets wing

from macbeth as expected

We aren't really planning on marking cards [SOLVED] until the answers have been confirmed on the Perplex City website. Even then, it's still a tag I'm loathe to add, as who knows what extra secrets each card may hold?

It's just that i've seen lot's of other cards with a [solved] mark on them. the red card Milo for instance. Of course it holds many other secrets, but when we are almost sure the main secret is solved, it's nice for others to know that.

Lower level (i.e. easier) cards are marked [SOLVED] because they are unlikely to have a more complex answer. Cards such as this one have a range of possible answers and until we know which one is correct, it cannot be said to be solved.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
fro example the answer to this card could possibly be "Macbeth", but then again it might be "Lizards leg and Howlets wing" (as in the next line of the play)

Yes--that is the same as the answer I used to receive points.
