approprialty that would be card #255 in my book
(well see how many people get that)

im wondering, are you reffereing to pokemon? do you know why it was that number?

(and why 255 or 256 is always the last number in any set in old games quite often?)

number of possibilities in a single byte of data. a single variable to hold it in the computers memory.

In binary (which is basic computer language)
1 = 1
10 = 2
100 = 4
1000 = 8
10000 = 16
100000 = 32
1000000 = 64
10000000 = 128

so ...
11111111 = 255
100000000 = 256

Following on from Brat-sampson's post here is a possible break down of the colour/pattern of each card which has already been implied. This is just a pretty table breaking it down, and all the known hexes, pixels & maze fit.

Had a bit of a search and no-one seems yet to have brought up the observation that 2 of the cards have KURT on them and two have ANNA
027 and 138 = KURT while 074 has an ambigram of ANNA and 170 mentions ANNA heath. for the life of me I can't find any thing hidden on the other two. I guess you could spec that they are authored by these people - The Bar None is clearly by Kurt and he's a bit of a Hax0r as we know (thus the Geek antiques - which raises the awkward question of how he got his sweaty little hans on them) and Anna would seem logical to associate with the Wordspy (if it is Anna Heath) but the Vexillogy card? And if she is the author why does Sente say she needs to see...herself?? Following this rather fractured logic, maybe the names Von, Tippy et al could be associated with the other 2? Bah!

Bah indeed! what are you on about man?
as a minimum, I talk over here about this anna issue.

Anna did not write the vexillogy card.

and fFrom there I'm not sure what you are talking about at all. several cards are explicitly credited. One is credited to Mr. Hon, even!

I will now venture my own speculation, which will come with supporting evidence: The voice on violet's phone number card is fFirst person ("Violet and I..."). So the puzzle scribe is speaking of a personal experience. Kurt seems to have made the card. So we may assume Kurt and violet hang out fFor drinks. And indeed, Violet's blog supports this idea.

Did you actually read my post Scott? You "talk" about anna being the author (or not, as you point out) - I am wondering about a possible grouping/deeper clue level given that the names KURT and ANNA appear on 4 of the cards. I know Anna didnt write the Vexillogy card. It's patently obvious. Nor did I refer to the design and contribution credits.
Come on mate. Get your hand off it. I read and appreciate yours and everyother persons posts here. Give me the same courtesy.

Well sure i read your post, DogsHead. But i guess i'm just not sure what you are saying, then. Your initial post only seemed to talk about card authors. Are you just heading to the stance of possibility where each card is not only grouped by colours, but instead may be grouped by occurence of words on each card? Kurt, Anna, and so on?

the set at http://www.perplexcity.com/images/puzzlecards.jpg is very different in design to the ones we got in the 333 pack - I reckon these were just to test what level they needed to make the impossible ones to stop our groupmind running a truck through their plans...

Sorry bro, wrote that one in fit of pique, but yeah the arrangement of the letters (KURT) and the ambigramness of anna and the fact that they appear as well as contributer credits, makes their presence seem to have more importance than mere sigs... not that this helps us with the Geek antique solve... my initial thought was it may guide us further into the academy
