Just thinking outloud after reading all your hard work so far:
Maybe it isn't the word the targets have in common, but the "Letter" that is needed? Like the first letter of the common word?
Continue the order from the oldest to newest gun?
An 18 letter word is what we need?
That would be consistent with some previous answers (spelling out the next word).

Yeah, that's exactly what I think. Either an 18-letter word or phrase based on what you've outlined above.

I want to say that the profile that is in line with the baby is that of Mozart, but I can't verify it with the exact photo. It's very similar to some images that I've seen on Google images, but not exact.

Someone solved this on another board that I frequent.

Drew Carey with an A on his chest = Acarey
Mite is of the genus acarus.

Therefore the answer is Acari.

I found a couple more guns to add.

#8-I think is George Washington Flintlock made in England in 1748.

#14-I think is a German Wheellock 17th century design. The German Wheellock was first made around 1500.

There are a couple of possibilities here. If we go by the "common first letter of the words" theory, then it could be Baby + Bust = B.

Also, if you're right that it's Mozart, and we go by the "common word(s) to describe both pictures" theory, it might be worth pointing out that there is a set of popular children's instructional videos called "Baby Mozart"...

Mozart was also a prodigy - child genius... could be child is the commonality?

Breakthrough, but not done yet:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Nogwater: for example. kill -> "herb" = herbacide
Nogwater: or herbicide even
I just started the -cide ball rolling, the people in the chat room really finished it off.

I'm tired and I'm passing the baton.

Here are the first letters to all the -cide words:

VRMPAHGPASATIEEIDE

Okay, now, we've found a bunch of the dates that the guns were manufactured, so if we take the ones we know and put the corresponding letters in order from newest weapon to oldest, we get:

AHEEIDVIGATE with PRPSMA still left to disperse somewhere throughout those letters. The PRPSMA are in a POSSIBLY chronological order...meaning the letters to the left are probably newer than the letters on the right, but they definitely aren't in perfect order.

Anyway, I have stared at these letters for a very, very long time. The GATE on the end is promising. VIGATE, actually, happens to be a pesticide, but I think that's complete coincidence. Other than that, you may take or leave what I have done, I am no longer sure that it's right.

I hope one of you finds the answer before I wake up. Well, part of me wanted to solve it first, but oh well.

Good luck!

Most likely a coincidence, but that string of letters does contain "Ed Vargas". Not too much of a stretch if you assume Robinson is behind the site.

On the other hand, the rest of the letters don't look like much when you assume this, and we already know there are plenty of things out there that can anagram to "Ed Vargas". Wink

My favorite from "a man Ed Vargas" is "Dave's anagram!"

Hi Dave! Very Happy

If Nun and Neo is -cide that starts with N

And we look at AHEEIDVIGATE and think about how PRPSNA would fit in....

AHEEID NAVIGATE
+PRPS+

Are we positive about the other letters and the order?

Kona:
I'm pretty sure it's not "nun" and "neo" but instead "Mother Theresa" and "Matrix" giving us: "matricide" (which starts with an "m" not an "n").

What about the bishop and the . . erm. . other bishop?

They've got the crossbow aiming at them so I'd assume they'd be the first letter as that's presumably the earliest weapon.

[edit]mmmm, wordlist.

episcopicide?[/edit]

Episcopicide, or something like that. That's why, in my unfinished work a couple of posts up, the last letter is an 'e'.

I tried oldest to newest, but things just didn't seem to be forming anything coherent. That's why I switched to newest to oldest.

Hence the letter E for Episcopicide at the end of the string of initial letters.
