I always thought it was referring to EEG-related information, for example...

"Schizophrenics compared with all control groups showed lower delta-theta activity centroids and higher alpha and beta activity centroids. Reactivity centroids (centroid after stimulus minus centroid during resting) were used as measure of update of working memory. "

this is really loose, but if it is referring to the utmost centre of the brain it might be the pineal gland.

The pineal gland exctretes the substance which is causing us to have dreams when we sleep. People also smoke it as a drug which is called DMT. Shamans drink it and that's called "Iowaska" if I remember correctly.

Don't see where this fits in though so I'm probably wrong.

There's no evidence I've that it's released when we dream (unless you have some, I am very interested). Dimethyltryptamine is a byproduct of serotonin and is naturally made in our body, but only trace amounts have been recorded as far as I know. Ayahuasca is the correct name for the DMT + MAOI brew that indigenous people use/used. It's a powerful psychedelic/entheogen.

I don't think it's related though.

Thanks for correcting me. found out on wikipedia that it's actually when we are near death that it releases DMT. Other than that it's functions seems non-relevant.

Dr. Rick Strassman, while conducting research on the psychedelic dimethyltryptamine (DMT) in the 1990s at the University of New Mexico, advanced the controversial hypothesis that a massive release of DMT from the pineal gland prior to death or near death was the cause of the near death experience (NDE) phenomenon. Several of his test subjects reported NDE-like audio or visual hallucinations. His explanation for this was the possible lack of panic involved in the clinical setting and possible dosage differences between those administered and those encountered in actual NDE cases. Several subjects also reported contact with 'other beings', alien like, insectoid or reptilian in nature, in highly advanced technological environments[28] where the subjects were 'carried,' 'probed,' 'tested,' 'manipulated,' 'dismembered,' 'taught,' 'loved,' and even 'raped' by these 'beings' (one could note the strong similarities of these bodily tests/invasions in other psychedelic experiences throughout time, outlined in Graham Hancock's "Supernatural"[29]). Basing his reasoning on his belief that all the enzymatic material needed to produce DMT is found in the pineal gland (see evidence in mammals), and moreover in substantially greater concentrations than in any other part of the body, Strassman ([28] p. 69) has speculated that DMT is made in the pineal gland.

DMT is one helluva drug.

In all seriousness, go see the film "The Spirit Molecule". Very informative.

Also, it's on Netflix in Instant Streaming!

DMT is... interesting. It's the only drug I'm legitimately frightened of (as opposed to simply knowing one is bad news bears, like heroin or cocaine).

i can't believe that post was dug up from so long ago, good lord i made that when it first came out

i still want to know who the alien looking person in inquiry is supposed to be. i'm almost certain the first one is jay, and one of them is alex and another is tim.

however one thing is making me think it's not alex, and that's one of the newer tothearks that flashes the image from inquiry for a split second of that persons face. it doesn't make sense to flash it if it was alex since nothing in that video related to alex at all, and alex can't be totheark.
