[Trailhead?] Phonopath Ok, so I posted this in the analysis thread and got a few comments that it is possibly a game. I am new to this forum so I am not sure the guidelines for posting spoilers and such so I won't post any for now.
Phonopathy is defined as a disorder of phonation, a disorder of the vocalization of sound.
So I was followed by this account on Twitter @Phonopath. After I followed him back, we had nothing for a few days. He started posting a lot of messages about finding a location for his sound, stages being completed, and responses to his followers questions.
His twitter descriptions is just a few words and a link. "This sound. It is my gift to you."
Two days ago, he posted a message that he was going away and that we should leave a message at the link if we felt necessary. The link takes you to his page, which he had already given us, but the page had changed, it now had an audio file which when played gives you the sound of a rotary phone being dialed. I think I got the number but I dont want to spoil anything without knowing the rules.
I thought I should post this here as I hadn't seen anyone post it yet and I searched the forums with no hits.
I look forward to working with you guys on this, it will be the first ARG I have gotten into at the beginning (if it is an ARG and not some psycho obsessed with sound in real life)

Interesting! What was the look of his homepage, before his leaving?
Where there any puzzles and stages, like he said on his twitter?

Has anybody figured out the phone number? I think it's either a 661 or 551 area code, but just can't seem to get it down.

I think it's 661 based on what I saw from my Audacity recording.

ok, to answer the question, his homepage was just the name at first, same one you see now, then he added the twitter link, then the file, the site background color was grey and went to black at some point as well.
I have also realized that if you isolate the right side in stereo mode, the clicks for the phone are cleared up, i think i have the area code and prefix right as i dialed a number but got an elderly lady who had no idea what phonopath was or an arg.
As for the page itself, I don't find anything, the whois even goes to a corp. I don't know if that is normal as I haven't really "played" any of these, just kind of followed and watched the game, tried some stuff on my own, and that kind of stuff.
If anyone has any luck with the phone or knows of a program better than audacity for playing with sound, please let me know, free or paid software is fine. (nevermind, reading comprehension fail)

Forgot to answer the other question, as for the stages, I asked him in a DM and he said in his typical tone, he was just updating his progress on building our challenges.
I take that to mean that the stages have yet to be played, he was just giving a clue on the number of challenges, he hasn't really done anything yet other than twitter, He followed me the same day his twitter showed his first tweet so I guess I was watching him at the beginning. Like I said, I am really new at all this so I don't know how to find out if anything was different except on his page with the internet wayback, I don't see anything really different or anything I missed, I have been checking it about once a day.
and i also just saw the number posted, reading at 7am isn't the best.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the sound of the rotary phone as the clue for the telephone number. Anyone actually get a rotary phone out to figure out the number?

Ha! I found that my phone had a PULSE/TONE switch that helped out.
