Oh hi! I'm so happy you're interested! The internship application form is attached. Please fill out and sign the form using black ink and fax it to the FIA processing center.
The fax number is:
1 (678) 716-2527
I'll get back to you, but it may take 2-4 weeks due to backlog.
Thank you so much!!

The pdf caused my adobe 8.1.3 to crash each time it opened, but I was able to print it off before it did. It looks fairly normal and much like a typical government form except that it contains some odd questions.
Do you now or have you ever owed in excess of $4950 in parking fines?
Have you ever been accused of spreading misinformation?
Do you enjoy eating spicy food?
It also seems we might be slipping backward in time here, as the first question is about computer systems you have experience in operating, with the following options.
Apple II, IBM PC clone, Atari 400, Osborne, TRS-80, Commodore, Other.
The fax number area code 678 is from Atlanta Georgia? curiouser and curiouser.

I also emailed so we'll see what happens. Can you post the PDF if you feel comfortable doing so?
EDIT: nm, she sent it to me as well. I got the exact same email, which makes me think it's automated. I'm going to see if I can use the fax here at work to zap this baby back over there.

Well, I finally got around to filling out the application and faxing it in from work. It is a valid fax number, whomever is listening on the other end now has my address and phone #. Hopefully this kickstarts something interesting because as of now this whole thing is deader than a doornail.

hey all!
i just saw the strange Z poster today on my way down 16th st. from Bryant to BART. the "poster" was in pristine condition...can't imagine it could have been up for more than one full day (at most). looking fwd to completing the first puzzle.
did any of you participate in the jejune institute games of nonchalance? i got into it kind of late..unfotunately rushing through many of the clues (the game was *very* well done - extremely detailed storyline with a ton of fabricated websites, phone numbers/answering machine msgs, etc.). was sorry to see it end.

I sent in my fax about a week ago and still haven't heard anything. So I have to figure either:
1) They're just slow, either because of RL issues or because this is the pace they want for the game
2) I'm the only one who's done both the quizzes (or one of a very small number) and also faxed in my form and either:
2a) They want more people to get to this point before they release the third puzzle
2b) They were hoping for more interest, got bored/depressed and quit
3) For some reason I haven't successfully triggered the condition that gets you the third puzzle. This would be odd because they said they were going to get back to me with the puzzle soon.
EDIT: 4) They did send me the puzzle, and for some reason (Spam filter?) I just don't realize it. I've looked through all my spam for the last week or so (shudder) though, and haven't seen anything.
Either way, it seems this might be dead before it even really got started, which is a shame because I liked it.

We finished act 2 over the weekend, went to the website and got the following reply
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Greetings XXX,
Your assistance on completing the second decryption sequence demonstrates your allegiance to both the FIA and to your country.
Once we've prepared the third decryption sequence from the nefarious 'Z', we'll be in touch with you again. Until then, be careful: there's no knowing what 'Z' will do next.
- Agent Tom
No further reply yet. In other news I hear that there has been in increase number of new posters popping up around the Mission. Can any one confirm this? If so it looks like the game is still afoot and the organizers (heretofore known as They) are developing the next part of the puzzle.

Just to chip in here - _june, ariock, omnie and I did the first two decryption sequences two weekends ago.
_june has faxed in her application, and I'll get around to doing so myself soon.
We'll see what happens next.

As others have mentioned - looks like there's no hurry at this stage, as things are still probably being built.
We also speculated after watching the first two videos as to whether this has all been put together by a single guy who plays both Z and Tom in the vids...
One of the things I like the most about this little game is that it serves as a good example of a puzzle trail/walking tour that could be put together fairly simply in any city or town, without the need to rent office space.

Just received the following. The game is afoot it seems.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Greetings citizen,
As you may have heard, the FIA is offering a number of slots in our INTERN program. Since you've proved yourself to be competent and responsible we'd like to extend the offer to you.
Keep in mind this program is unpaid and voluntary, but you can't put a price on service to your country.
If you'd like to sign up or want more information, e-mail our HR department at hrSPLAT federalinfo.org
If you've already applied, there's no need to resubmit. We'll get your information packet mailed to you shortly.

I received the same email last night as well. Sent an email requesting more information and included my full contact information. Maybe things are moving forward.

Job app in denver Sent in application. I sent in a message applying to the job in Denver, as I actually live near there.
Hopefully I'll get a reply back, but I sort of doubt it.
"Hello, officials at the FIA. I wish to apply for the opening in Denver, as I have a strong interest in bringing down those who share and spread misinformation, such as a subject who I personally tracked down and arrested, who was spreading recipes for overly and incredibly spicy wasabi on the internet and pretending that it was a valid food to be consumed.
Misinformation and disruption like this is what's bringing this society to a screeching halt. I live near Denver and am willing to work for your services.
I assume think I have the location of one of the persons on your "Most Wanted" list, albeit it's a bit fuzzy.

I remember reading a question about spicy foods on the internship application then seeing a bunch of information about spice on the webpage, so to grab their attention I made reference to wasabi. Maybe it'll work. Maybe not.

I had a few days off last week and drove in to San Francisco to scamper around -- it was more fun than I expected, running around with the clues! I got the email to wait for the third puzzle, and I fired off an email about the intern position. Just sent in my fax tonight -- hopefully the game'll be chugging forward soon!

THE NEXT CHAPTER>? Fan fiction for Z I did parts 1 & 2 in a single day with my Droid X smartphone and on foot. It was exhilarating. I was so inspired that I wove it into a storyline for my project 0z. It is a short piece of fan fiction.
dramatis personae:
Z, AGENT TOM, SANDY MARSHALL, GEEKWARRIOR0
https://sites.google.com/site/nathanaelcarrollhorton/
I kept pestering the characters with the emails provided until Z sent me this message:
Mr. HORTON,
Do NOT worry. I am currently INVESTIGATING the so-called "Federal Intelligence Agency." Just WAIT. And I HOPE you signed up for the FIA "INTERN" thing... there will be more INFORMATION for you shortly.
Settle DOWN!
Sincerely,
Z
So I think the game is still ongoing... Geekwarrior0

Faxed in my internship application, crossing fingers for part 3!

Well, thank god this isn't dead.
Didn't get a reply from the "job opening" in Denver, which was well over a week ago, so I don't think it's real.
I'll submit one for the regular internship.
Cheers for part 3!
