Catherwood -- I think the Z?GTU character is a J: it's superimposed over a G, though.

L?BHD has an H superimposed over a B, but again the H looks like it's superimposed over the B, so my guess would be LHBHD.

EDIT TO ADD: This is off-topic, but I like how the Odd-Jobs.biz quiz includes the tortoise question...very nice call-back.

Finally, a chance to get involved in an ARG. I did the test on Odd-jobs, so hopefully I'll be getting something interesting in my inbox sometime soon.

On the topic of that included cipher, I think I know what type it is. Given the original use for this particular cipher, it makes sense for the context of this ARG. Only trouble is, more information is required to crack it if I'm right.

Wow, i've been looking for something like this to do for a while, i just did the test at odd-jobs.

Has anyone tried sending an e-mail to the woman on the odd-jobs business card?

I also googled a few names in the package, like the author of the newspaper article of John Smith, didn't seem to come up with anything.

This is my first ARG, and i'm really looking forward to it.

Sorry about the previous post, didn't notice i wasn't logged in -_-

[edit]
I just went on odd-job.biz instead of odd-jobs, largely by accident, but it brought up a very different, although for some reason odd-looking, website with a phone number on it (might not even be a proper phone number).

To me the website doesn't look legit, or at least not overly-professional, but then that could be because i'm not from the US and i guess a handy man wouldn't have a professional web page. Also the catchphrase at the top seemed a little odd for a handy man, "Uncommon Jobs, Extraordinary Results", the word 'Uncommon' in particular seems odd for this and fits well with the other, main site.

It only raised suspicion because of how similar the address was and that the website is hardly complex, so it could just be a genuine bloke trying to run a business.

Anyway, tell me what you think, if i'm being silly or if it looks odd to you too:
http://www.odd-job.biz/index.html

Also, i would ring the number and just say i was looking for Loki, just in case it's a real number, but i live in the UK...

We should try and contact this Meg Sarah Street, but what would we say?

I'm happy to send her an e-mail. We don't really have too much info on odd-jobs.biz to chose from really. Could simply ask what jobs are currently available or when we will receive scores from the tests? The address could well have an auto-response on anyway.

I took the test! Great questions. My first ARG (I've lurked through others). Can't wait to see where this goes.

Got an envelope in the mail for this...should have pictures / scans / transcription later tonight.

Among other things, there's a letter written using a typewriter sans ink that implies others will be receiving something if they haven't already.

Did you sign up from the test site? Or was it just a random kind of occurrence?

The envelope was addressed to ARGNet, so not random. And I agree with cyng -- really getting a kick out of the overall composition. Whoever sent it took the time to add some nice details that hopefully come through in the images (the random red "confidential" stamp, creased / worn "photograph", and the typewritten page itself)...and then there's the Odd-Jobs website itself. Lot of pieces that seem to fit together, but that's an outlier that I look forward to seeing mesh with the rest.

Well, i don't think we need to be coy about mere theories. It can't be Playfair, because all 26 letters of the alphabet are used. I tossed it into a Vignere cracker but didn't come up with any viable keys. My guess is that your guess is that it comes out of an Enigma machine, and we would need wheel settings and such to be able to decipher it.

I would cast a vote this site is a setup. Someone should call the number!

If this was a legit site, why no email/contact form? Also why does he give a whole bio in About Jay but no price quotes or descriptions of jobs?

I dunno the site is so pretty, and well laid out, I think this "Jay" is a clue.

Wondering - Has anyone who has taken the test gotten an email yet? [/code]
