Official Set Photos - Weirton, WV www.aintitcool.com Ain't It Cool News
...and the transformation begins. Would have been nice to have some filming here in Ohio. Dayton still a possibility?

I like the name Lillian for the town. It's cute in some way.

Set during the summer, one of the guys (if a stand-in for a main character) will be short, and they'll have to pull, or change the soda machines—“selling water, that'd be like having to pay for TV,” I could hear my Dad say back then (although they had pay TV in '79).

Unofficial Unforum Unpics Someone in one of the other topic threads mentioned starting to look in the real world for clues. I don't know how significant these pics are but...
In Weirton, film crews were shooting at the middle school and convenient store location tonight. Here are pictures of some interesting banners that were hung around the ball field fence next to Lillian Middle School. They include some of the usual community sponsors.
A couple of the more interesting ones include a radio station (WROH 1280 24 hour radio) and Carley’s Pet Store and Aquarium . I looked around town and didn't find Carley's but did see where they're putting up a WROH sign on one of the downtown buildings. It is right next to a stationery shop. These could have possible ties to Josh, hooklineandminker.com and the paper allergy.

Oh sweet. That does really tie in (especially the Pet Store thing). And the lion thing is hilarious (because we all joked about how the monster was a lion). With all this info we can now move a little forward in the game.

Yes, that's nice! Aquarium store fits very good into the story.
My question is, where is actually Josh?
I mean, is he in Weirton? (Since we've seen the zip code "25801" for West Virginia on the print-out).
Or was it the totally meta thing and we should forget about Weirton and West Virginia and concentrate us on Lillian in Ohio? (But what to do about all the West Virginia Craiglist things?)
May be, in the movie will appeare as Weirton of now as Lillian of the 70ies?
Or was the pic on the printout (with zip code and boxes) made by movie staff, moving to Weirton to film aboit Lillian?
Ok, I know, a little bit confusing all the questions. But not rhetorical!

The set details that I have seen, both on Marland (Lillian) Heights and in downtown Weirton, are depicting the Lillian, Ohio area. I’m not sure what the WV connection is or if there will be one in the movie. Beckley is about a 4 hour drive south of Weirton. If Lillian, OH is supposed to be a town near Wright-Pat AFB, it is also about a 4 hour or more drive west of Weirton. Everything in Lillian (as seen here in Weirton) is set in the 70s, including all the vehicles they’ve been using. IF the movie also flashes forward to present day, maybe after the train crash dust settles in 1970s Lillian, Josh’s dad disappears, and Josh and mom move to WV, where we catch him again as an adult.

I think Josh's mom (Evelyn) lived in WV, and he was only there for the funeral (and arrangements - i.e. Craigslist postings).

@Rocket Mountaineer,
@RasGold
Yes, this sounds reasonable.
I like how they work with set places (actually, it's usual, but I still like it). Like in LOST they filmed Australia, Russia, Germany etc. - all in Hawaii.

The Cast ... Now that the cast has been set in place:
Kyle Chandler
Elle Fanning
Ron Eldard
Noah Emmerich
Gabriel Basso
Joel Courtney
Riley Griffiths
Ryan Lee
Zach Mill
Doesn't Kyle Chandler look a bit like Capt. Coop?

Lillian Ohio So if Josh was in weirton for his mom's funeral but he is from Lillian ,Ohio. Then we are guessing that Carly's is his pet store of choice. The signs we have been shown indicate a radio station, a steel foundry, a pet store and a baseball associaition, where is the sign for where Josh works? Any other pictures available of the signs? Are there any signs that weren't photographed?

The town of Lillian is meant to be in the late 70's..
The Josh of the ARG is in the present..
If he was from Lillian he must have been a child (thus the movie plot) then so he wouldnt have had a place of work there yet. It was 30 years ago after all.
The Train wreck happens in 1979 in a fictional town called Lillian in Ohio.
