Josh Minker, Remember back to the casting call

Remember the casting call that Paramount sent out, one of the character's names they used for the casting call was Josh. I just thought that was interesting.

But the casting call was NOT for SUPER 8, as revealed shortly after that story hit: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29639

This is JJ Abrams we're talking about, just keep that in mind. Plus, it was just an interesting idea I thought about.

Of course Josh is such a unique name it couldn't possibly be in two films...

I also wonder where one gets the impression that this would indicate a character is going to survive the film storyline? We learned all about the folks in Cloverfield, and all ended up dead with only one possible exception.

I get it too, but apparently two real writers are attached to LITTLE DARLINGS, so are they in on the hoax too?

Granted IMDB can be full of it, but even the Hollywood Reporter had an article about Paramount casting 15 year old girls back in April... over a month before the 'news' broke about open casting for SUPER 8:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i3d82e5b0896238025a30777dc6867a7e?pn=2

If it's all an ARG hoax, that's pretty elaborate to get THR to do JJ's bidding a month before casting even begins.

I won't underestimate JJ's penchant for such things, but so far I'm not convinced Paramount is using a previous title in their library to shill for SUPER 8 pre-production as the "new CHEESE". With that precedent in place, why use a recognizable name at all? Just invent the next 'meaningless' fake name and go with it.

Well if that casting for "Josh" IS Josh Minker, then he couldn't possibly die in the film since he's updating a blog in 2010

The cast of Cloverfield updated My Space pages all the way up to the day of "the party". It was only after the movie first showed that they stopped - so it's very possible that he could die. He just hasn't died yet.

Real time vs. movie time. We're not in the movie yet, so anything goes.

I think the assumption is that the film is set in the seventies. So if Josh Minker is a character in the movie and he is now blogging, then he has obviously survived. I think there is sufficient clues to say we will get a 70s or 80s setting for the movie, but one can never be sure.

josh minker could easily die in the film, what if the film is set a year after it comes out, i mean im pretty sure with the exception of star wars most sci fi films are set in the future, lol Razz

If we think the super8 was shot in 79, Josh would have been 16, if 1963 is his birthday.

If he shot it had he blocked it out of his mind for all these years? where had he been keeping hte film, surly not in his mothers hat all this time? maybe he didn't even realise what was on the film until he recently saw it OR perhaps, he saw the film for the first time recently thought that is the scariest thing I ever saw and wrote that on the film to send to whoever he has been communicationg with over the PDP-11.

which brings me back to this question - why is he using a PDP-11 simulator now???? WHY!!!!
