I claim San Jose! I was perfectly willing to drive the hour to (and back from) San Francisco -- I did it for the book "A Treasures Trove" -- but San Jose is so much closer to me, and I love Hicklebees, happy to support them. But May 13 is too long for me to wait for the book, I'll probably have to track it down at a store before then. This is definitely my kind of addiction.
oh nuts, it's at 3pm on a Thursday? Hmm, better schedule a vacation day from work. Such a sacrifice, I know.

So, to followup again: if we accept that it's Ohio, then we have 45 (the Roman numerals) and 76 tiles. There are state routes for both 45 and 76, and the only place they appear to meet is... ... a cemetery. This seems promising. Here's a link to the North Jackson Cemetery on Google Maps.
There's a geo-cache in that cemetery and a couple others that are close. Perhaps we can find a way to work with those guys to check out the site. I'm thinking maybe someone could put a note on the page for that geo-cache asking to check the eye area out? I'd do it myself, but I'm not sure of the protocol for that site.

@rose, @catherwood, @diszaster: awesome to see you. I've marked catherwood and diszaster down at http://www.disobey.com/wiki/The_Clock_Without_a_Face for being at their claimed events. @rose: no registration or anything required - you just have to show up and listen for a spoken-only clue for the treasure hunt. They will NOT be reposted online by anyone (but us, of course).
Could you pick one of the NY ones that you can make and claim it?

After catherwood alerted me to the existence of this book hunt, I ordered it and received it yesterday (disappointingly, my copy is kind of warped -- are others' like that?).
I haven't had time yet to pour over it. Lots of tiny little things going on... and no clue event in Chicago so far...

Yep, my copy is warped too. I can literally bend it to be concave and convex as needed, but never flat enough to be scannable ;)

Hi!
It's been forever. I hope you're all well. I'll try to get to the S.F. event.
Also I'm not much of a wiki person but...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think the "shelf" on floor 3 by the furnace is actually the Japanese for 5 (五)
I also added that into the wikia page's talk section for the floor.

There's also something missing from the pedestal near the kiln.

I added it to the article. And just a note, please feel free to add any speculation you may have to the wiki. When in doubt, add it!

On the Fourth Floor, the seven red lights could be significant. Traffic lights? Part of directions?

Okay I've been looking through this book for the past few days and just need to write down some of the random things that I've noticed. I may repeat things I've seen on the wikis etc. I doubt that all of this is significant -- I'm just trying to work my way through this stuff:
Thirteenth Floor
The vacuum cleaners are art too: Jeff Koons
Three keys on the table
White flower next to the dog
Why is there an artwork missing from the north wall?
Twelfth Floor
Pigs to Pants. Firewood to laughter. Emeralds to eyeballs. (and in the picture:) Tea to t-shirts. "Firewood to laughter" seems to stand out - it doesn't have alliteration. A word puzzle, perhaps?
Speaking of eyeballs: there's a bowl on the table. Did they used to be emeralds?
Lots of discussion already about equation and Mi on periodic table
What is in the picture to the left of the big He painting in the foyer?
The one open drawer on the back wall... more emeralds?
Anybody recognize the molecule picture in the kitchen?
Object stolen: 6 bars of lead (found on 10)
Object found: Victrola (from 5)
Eleventh Floor
Ida Mayfield is referred to as "Linda" in the text.
Money laundering on the ironing board?
That closetful of rockets -- a couple show up on other floors
What are in the bowls in the foyer?
770 on video game
FOT = "Friend of Tom" is a private joke by the artist.
Prices on toasters: $3.99, $89.00, $1.99
Object stolen: zucchini (found on ??)
Object found: Burpy Bear lunchbox (from 8 )
Tenth Floor
Only 5 of the 6 missing bars of lead/Pb are visible
Stool - snake - spider: All Ss? Plus the snake looks like an ampersand &
The missing elevator part of the drawing -- not random but why?
24 = bear rug; 25 = tiger; 26 = lion
white flowers in pond
I see toilet paper - don't want to know where the toilet is.
Object stolen: rifle (found on 4)
Object found: 5 of 6 lead bars (from 12)
Ninth Floor
Television window is called "The GIDEON 1.0"
Other machine is "F.R.I.T.Z.-9000" -- Google tells me that both Fritz and Chessmaster 9000 are computer chess programs.
2308, September 18
1010100 = 84
the number "one" in wires in top right
the number "8" in wires in lower left middle
Star Trek/Star Wars/2001/Logan's Run/Dr. Who
Yum, Tang
How do tighty whiteys get on top of the bathroom cabinet?
Object stolen: green galoshes (found on 8 )
Object found: 12-headed figurine (from 3)
Eighth Floor
frisbee jacks boomerang on bookcase
two clocks: one says noon and the other 1pm I believe
Object stolen: Burpy Bear lunchbox (found on 11)
Object found: green galoshes (from 9)
Seventh Floor
lots of numbers: 91.1, 7, 30, 5, 25
trap door under the rug?
white flowers shooting water
Object stolen: lavender bubble-shoes (found on 6)
Object found: Belgian antique unicycle (from 7)
Sixth Floor
obvious XLV VLX on walls
52 'planks' in floor of main room; variations in shading but no obvious binary etc.
white flowers on windowsill
What kind of name is D'Grnp?
Object stolen: Belgian antique unicycle (from 6)
Object found: lavender bubble-shoes (found on 7)
Fifth Floor
Josie or Josephine?
magic square of 21
two covered birdcages?
yellow flower on purple hat
Object stolen: Victrola (found on 12)
Object found: Pink Pony toothbrush (from 2)
Fourth Floor
fuzzy "5" in woodchips
strawberry, carrot, grape, banana water?
eye on doorknob in bathroom
thermometer at 95
Object stolen: metronome (found on 2)
Object found: rifle (from 10)
Third Floor
Rosa Tse-Levy becomes "Ms. Sweet" in text?
445 in mirror reflection
mirror in foyer must reflect another self-portrait across the way; can see hair
eye on hanging picture in darkroom
Object stolen: 12-headed figurine (found on 9)
Object found: magnifying glass (from 1)
Second Floor
3 eyes: 2 on warning signs and pink eye picture near bed
rations: H20, chili, cheese, saltines
3:28, 1:80 4:14 9:12 -- plus monitor above shows foyer video feed
brownish snake is missing head
only floor with floor number outside elevator
yellow flowers on doormat
Object stolen: Pink Pony toothbrush (found on 5)
Object found: metronome (from 4)
First Floor
1% milk scooched on table
why are there several 'hands', including two mounted under glass?
eye on main door, plus eye on magnifying glass on book on desk
spectrum of color coordinated books in bedroom?
two pairs of glasses, one on the coffee table and the other on the nightstand
Some of the objects look very much like objects from floor 13 (e.g, the obelisk, the glass cases, the green ball on the shelf)
The chalkboard shows the 13th floor as well, plus what could be an emerald buried under a tree (too obvious?)++++
Object stolen: magnifying glass (found on 3)
Object found: ?? (should be zucchini but I can't see it)
Epilogue
The doormen Bud and Gene mysteriously become Bud and Gus.
Also, in the buildings on the opening pages, the 4th from the right is our building (it's conveniently highlighted)
EDIT: There are three distinct loops in the objects that were stolen. Here, 6-->7 means that the object stolen from floor 6 was found on floor 7:
1 --> 3 --> 9 --> 8 --> 11 --> ??(1)
2 --> 5 --> 12 --> 10 --> 4 --> 2
6 --> 7 --> 6

Hey all. I haven't been following, but I am in Cleveland and that cemetery is about an hour and a quarter from me. I am out of town until next Monday night, but if you still need someone to head over there I am game.

claim a time? I can do:
Quote:
Thursday, May 27 NEW YORK Adam Baumgold Gallery,
60 East 66th Street 6:30 p.m.
Maybe someone can tell me what I need to listen for?

it was on Saturday, April 24 -- did you go? Did you get a clue? I'm most curious about how the clue is presented, whether it's obvious or stealthy.
Clues will be different at each event. Did we get no one to claim San Francisco for this coming Saturday. I didn't want to have to make the trip, if we have others in the area. Pretty please?
