I received a postcard from Anna today.

My dear Ea,

How I wish we could have continued our little conversation, But I had to leave the island without wishing you farewell. I am sure you understand. If you want to catch up, you know where you can find me.

Sincerely yours,

Anna

My husband came in with the mail a little while ago. He had That Look on his face. "What is this postcard from Germany? Who is Anna? Why are we getting weird things again? This came to the house!"

I got him calmed down enough to fork over the postcard. Wink

Ex is posting hers, but I can add a closeup of the postmark.

More of my pics starting here.

Upon further inspection of the postcard under a black light, I find "Sind bad". Sindbad was the name of a Viktor Larenz's dog in the book. Addlepated's card also revealed the same thing under black light, but where mine looks like two words, hers appears to be one word.

23. Labyrinth syndrome. Huh?

Wiki my friend says:
"The labyrinth is a system of fluid passages in the inner ear" (EAR! -> postcards from Anna)
and further: "Interference with or infection of the labyrinth can result in a syndrome of ailments called Labyrinthitis. The symptoms of Labyrinthitis include temporary nausea, disorientation, vertigo, and dizziness."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labyrinth_(inner_ear) (sorry the link won't show because of the brackets)

I guess we can take this metaphorically, not a bacterial infection of the ear but of some other sort (the ear as the therapist? not listening well anymore, or getting disorientated?) *wondering*

So is Sindbad supposed to be a password for something? A domain name? A directory?

The fact that the postcard starts with "Dear Ear" - does that indeed tie into Labyrinth syndrome? Even though Penny says it's a mental disorder?

I hope Jimmy's able to get us that notebook page, and that the page has something to help us out on it. I think if we keep trying to tread water like this, we're gonna drown!

New Email From Jimmy

Quote:
Tresbien,

Good news. Penny is feeling better today. I was able to visit her and bring her all the wishes of you and your friends. I told her that you were trying to read the page from the notebook and that you asked me to scan it again. She had taken it with her to remember the facebook password. I'll try to login there later, but first: Here is a scan of the page that you asked for ...

I hope this works for you.

My message from Jimmy-

Quote:
[PostLarval],

I still cannot tell you anything about Mr. Krotzler's disappearance, but I was allowed to see Penny today. I talked to her about some of the questions that you and your friends came up with. While we were talking she handed over the notebook to me which she had taken with her for the weekend to look up the password at her aunts house. Some of your friends asked me to scan the page again and here it is:

Dee,

the get-well wishes of you and your friends seem to have helped Penny to recover more quickly from her nervous breakdown. I was allowed to visit her and we had a short talk about some of the events from the last days. I didn't ask her all of your questions because I didn't want to shock her again bei asking her all those questions.

She had taken the notebook with her and gave it to me when I asked her about it. I scanned the page with a higher resolution now. You can find it here:

http://www.ivankrotzler.com/photos/nbscan.jpg

Can you read anything on that page?

Not only is Jimmy slipping up and using German in his messages, but he's sending us photoshopped scans of the notebook. It took Penny a few days to start acting weird, but Jimmy's got it down right out of the gate!

For completion's sake, here's the scan.

What's this look like? It's the circled word from the other side of the page. It looks like Jimmy has blanked out a lot of the other reverse text - perhaps it's not relevant? Or he has ulterior motives. Either way, it ain't there. but this is.
