 [SLA][Classes]Human Literature - Prof Dashwood
First assignment

The Vampyre: A Tale

Although this tale does not originate the vampire myth, which has persisted in many forms among many human societies, it is remarkable in that it is one of the first "vampire stories" to be considered "mainstream", as you students say these days. The text was originally attributed to Lord Byron, who had previously written The Giaour, which also references vampires. This attribution ensured that The Vampyre was received by a wide audience. It was later revealed to be the work, not of Byron, but of his physician, John William Polidori.

Please read and discuss this story; you may post discussion topics in this thread even before completing the reading. I will post key discussion points throughout the week.

Thought I would post this here. Neat Idea to use Project Gutenberg for the Reading. This Class seems to have been just kind of sprung on us, so do you think that fact has any importance for the overarching story?

Woo! I can study for my ARG English instead of my school English! Very Happy
Anyway, may be a part of the plot just recently added, or due to our teacher's self-professed lack of computer skills. I'll be reading away at this during any spare time I get anyway

Holy God. My eyes are burning. I'm glad we have a week to do all this, because I can't read a document like that for too long...

I wonder who Prof. Dashwood is. He is not listed in the Faculty but has a Faculty rank.
