[8/13/42] 8-4-08 Caitlin's Video confession - Fountain of Youth 13lights.org was updated with a video confession from Caitlin to her parents.
Quote:
Mom, Dad,
If you're watching this, it means I'm dead [rolls eyes]...for real. I'm sorry for the whole faking my death thing, but I had to do it to keep you from following me and thus keep you out of trouble. Parker has to pay; the world needs to be rid of that selfish rat, and I'm not the only one that wants it. You've heard of it I'm sure; The Philamana (sp?) Rising. They're the future! They're going to take Sky down, and they've recruited me. I just wanted to let you know, and right now at least, I'm safe. I have my own place here. I just finished my first mission. The broadcast got cut short before it went live, but that we made it as far as we did was a success. And...yeah the undercover work involved wasn't so bad. You would have liked it Dad but I'm sure Mom wouldn't have approved. Anyway, I'm going to do everything I can to bring back our legacy. Taylor Industries will thrive again, I promise. I love you guys. I'm doing this for you. This is our future and I'm going to make it happen, no matter what.
The text linking to the map was also changed to Fountain of Youth. No changes have been made to the map, however.

Got this e-mail right as the site changed:

I have sent my arms out far for this. If they are alerted, we very well may be finished.
Be wary.
I couldn't at all make out the name of the group/organization that she mentioned... other than the 'Rising' part. Could be a new site to hunt for...
No luck searching for Taylor Industries yet either.
Maybe Fountain of Youth will be a new location? Florida? Just spec.. too early to tell...

I know it was posted earlier, but anyone know how to convert the video so it can be documented? I completely missed the last audio and I don't know how long this video will be up.

It's an flv file (http://13lights.org/video.flv), so if you have an flv player you can just save it and watch it. If you want to download it as avi or mpeg, go here: http://vixy.net/ Just enter the url and choose what format you want it in
With the speed of updates, we really should be documenting everything. I saved the last audio, and this video. I also have the initial video. Did anyone save the one with the children playing?

Bingo:
http://thephilomenarising.org/
In Catholicism, Philomena was a young virgin martyr saint, said to be the patron of children, infants, and lost causes.
The page has a login that we'll need to find a password for...

It's in the source code:

Typing 'login' at the command prompt brings up the 'ID' and 'password' fields. Entering the above correctly (case sensitive) leads to:

No, but I did yank all the surveillance shots. Of course, http://13lights.org/surveillance/ is still up.

Edit: I'll be doing some Wiki updating tomorrow. Today is going to be a pure ball of suck in the office, since we just lost 10% of our consultants to layoffs effective Friday

Yes... I'm not sure if the application didn't get sent, of if they just didn't include a confirmation page.
No auto confirmation e-mail either, fwiw.

Interesting - something in my browser (IE 6.x) and/or firewalls prevented me from viewing the source (nothing wanted to popup) and when I accessed the login and inputted the proper un/pw, nothing happened.
But your direct link to the "site" worked.
I get the set/contact number, but serial number? Just in case, DO NOT USE ANYTHING LIKE A GOVT ID #.

I had the same problem here at work, Konamouse. I could view the source on the /site link, though. And, it appears that the form is okay (although I have limited understanding on HTML, it's been many years since my last class on it).
I left the serial number blank.
On a semi-unrelated note, do you all give your real phone numbers out? I like getting game-related calls (I gave my number to the Dark Knight, but not this one), but I'm paranoid about giving it out. Do you use a pre-paid cell, or something like that? Just curious.

I did give my number - and address - out in this case, because this seems to have been run on a fairly... clean? basis - in other words, I don't think they're doing this just to gank my phone number. They've put a hell of a lot of effort into the videos, for one thing, just to try to play telemarketer.
I also added an out of game note to the bottom of my 'reason for joining' letting them know when I *couldn't* take calls. Like, when I'm in the office. Or when my son is sleeping.
I'm not as paranoid with my cell as I am with my address, because the worst that someone could do would be to make me start shoving unknown callers to voicemail. On the flip side, they're the only place that currently has my address - I tend to keep that pretty close to my chest.

I think this is just a clever way of gathering definite locations of all people involved for drops and to codify the watcher's mailing lists.
With that said, I hope this adds another dimension to the game rather than just being the above statement.
the watcher really does care about his anomalies after all <3
EDIT: I wrote this...yes I'm serious..no don't judge me!
Quote:
Abandoned as a young boy, I was raised by pygmy hedgehogs. They cared for me in the best and worst of times. Although I became an unruly adolescent and rebelled against their authority, I always remembered them in my mind and heart. They were the only family I had known. Until this day I remain a wanderer in a hostile world, hoping that one day I will find a home again.
Basically I want to join because I'm lonely.

I played into the New Angeles and set in the future that I listed my location as "New Vegas".
[SPEC]Regarding the lack of autoresponse from these registration forms.
1) they didn't plan it (they have a small target player base so they figured they could hand respond to this)
2) something is broken and we'll get clued into resubmitting[/SPEC]

Signed up, put email, phone and address. I left serial number blank.
Also, I noticed there are a few other commands to input into the terminal
typing help gives us
Quote:
You know what to do or else you would not be
here. Case sensitive.
typing exit refreshes the page and brings you back to the login failed screen
typing alvan gives us
Quote:
Classified! Error 507: Uninstall keyplate and
press F9 to continue.
typing SkyCorp gives
Quote:
Denied! Leave now before death falls upon you.
typing 0216 gives
Quote:
Our saint, hallelujah.
These commands are all found in the source. There may be more but these are the one's i saw.

Excellent catch, Vapor.
0216 is "our savior"? I wonder if that's a serial number for someone
