well this sucks. but i can't blame them for stoping the game and am grateful they came forward. although i was a bit surprised to find out it is a VTQ game, i would have thought they would be able to program for browsers other than IE :\ .

I'm so freakin' pissed off right now. This is the first ARG I've gotten into on the ground floor, from the beginning. And of course, this is one of the first to be stopped mid-game. I can't believe this. I'm impressed with VQC stepping up and letting us know instead of me checking the forums and the website every friggin' day to realize that this game was dead. To hell with the corporate sponsor for CoD. I'm really disappointed.
Thanks VQC if you're reading this. You finally brought us some closure.
Bliss.

Poo.
Like a few people here, this was my first ARG and I couldn't beleive how lucky I was to actually catch it from its initial stage...
But, VQC have my full sympathy on the turn of events. Their honesty is truly appreciated and now that they have my personal info, i dare hope that they'll count me in for future frolics.
Unfortunately, this only confirms how the corporate world uses and abuses creative people for their own sake. Being part of the gaming industry, I have seen this only too often.
Sad. Very sad.
Yet, I did get a call and a few emails, and that's enough for me to want to jump on the next ARG VCQ launches. I tasted sin and I want more.
Logging off.

I'd also like to thank Kona and Tux for moderating this forum. They did a good jorb.
I had fun playing in the City of Domes with you all. Hopefully I will see you in other games. I am heading over to Orbital Colony.
Too bad I picked a COD tag for my moniker.

Yeah that's totally understandable that they would halt the game- I feel worst for the VQ people, who put all of the work into the game, to have puzzles and storylines okayed and then to not get paid for it.
I poo on your sponsor! Well, not really... but I'm disappointed.
But also pleased at this example of PM integrity.

Thanks for clearing it up, VQ. I hope that if you're still not paid in a couple of weeks, you will consider revealing your client's name so that future puppetmasters don't get burned in the future like you did.

Sucks for VQC. What can you do? I'd love to hear the client's side of the story...
I didn't get the e-mail either

Second arg for me (Bees... halfway through I joined), and I'm not the happiest camper around. But, if VQC has my info, I'll be glad to pick up the phone to something new.

Summer Memo from Jacob - VirtuQuest

The Weather Breaks!
Well it seems that summer is finally here, after a very unsettled spring season (weather wise). We have been very much under the radar here at VQC finding a new niche in online team building puzzle hunts. Not quite full blown ARGs, but smaller scale stories for groups to solve and decipher together. I have found over the last 6 years working on ARGs, that the ability to evolve and change focus as the market dictates is imperative for any company.
This spring we have concluded 3 corporate trainings involving online puzzles and team building exercises. They each presented their own challenges as well as rewards, not only for the participants, but also for the VQC team as developers.
Currently the VQC team is getting ready for our traditional summer hiatus, which has become a mental necessity. Several of us will be relaxing with family and friends while others will actually use their abilities as freelance designers and programmers, I am not sure if I would call that a hiatus.
At any rate, we have laid the groundwork for an interesting online puzzle/interactive game for the late fall of 2008 and yes it will include a nice prize for the victor. Even though it will not be billed as a full blow ARG, we think a wide range of individuals will find it appealing at many levels.
On another note, we recently have been approached by an entity interested in financing the “City of Domes” ARG which fell off do to contract issues several years back. Although the communication is in the early stages, we feel there may be a chance of a re-launch down the road. Cross your fingers.
Enjoy and relax

Hi all,
I hav'nt been here for a while now.
Actually, I think it's been since the City Of Domes ARG fell through a couple years or so back.
But just seen this post and wanted to say that I really do hope this ARG gets the support and is restarted again.
I will surely be in if it does!
