Of all the information we have so far, if this is in fact a "game" I think this clue has the most potential of being useful.
You all are looking for information on the monster; that is NOT going to come from the characters. They won't meet the thing for another four months, and there is no logical reason for hidden messages or clues in to anything they say or do. They are living their lives, and what you see is simply character development.
This picture, however, has *nothing* to do with any of the characters or information we have up to now. It has no link to anything we know so far (well, other than it being in Japanese). It comes completely out of left field, anonymously, without any link to anything we know so far, and has to serve some purpose for existing.
If there is more to be found (and I admit I still have my doubts as to whether this is a "game" or not), I have reason to believe that this image is a big part of it.

If you all can ascertain that the stuff on the pan is a cake, you're a better man than I. I can't tell what the hell that stuff is, but the dude seems way excited to present it.
I guess it's not totally out of left field. The trailer did show the guests enjoying some kind of Japanese or Asian cuisine. And Rob is moving to Japan. And the whole Slusho angle brings in Japan, with talk of mixing ingredients and so on. And hey, we can't see our wacky chef's left hand. Maybe it's covered in a... ...blue oven mitt!!!!

Here it is: (by the way, I don't think that it was written by a native speaker, because there are some odd syntax uses. He uses some very formal japanese mixed in with very informal.)
Everybody, thank you for viewing! I'll introduce this week's delicious recipe. Please make sure to keep this one cold!
*Skinless chicken breast - 2, cut in halves
*Soumen (a kind of japanese noodle) - 10 oz.
*Watercress - 1/2 cup cut into small strips
*Turnip - 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
*Shiitake (japanese mushrooms) - 1/2 cup
*Chicken stock - 1/3 cup
*Sake (japanese rice wine) - 2 tbsp.
*Sugar - 1/2 tsp.
*Ocean-bottom crab - one
In a small saucepan, stir together 1/3 cup water, chicken stock, sake, and sugar. Chill it until it becomes cold. Grill the chicken breast on both sides for about 8 minutes, and then chill. Boil the noodles for about 3 minutes, and then run under cold water until chilled. Mix the watercress, turnips, and mushrooms into the soumen. Slice the chicken thinly and arrange on top of the soumen mix. Just before you serve, put the crab in the sauce and pour over the noodles generously.
Go go Oishii ("delicious") Chef!

LOL I don't know what they're doing. My japanese isn't stellar but it's decent. I live in Japan so I follow japanese recipes sometimes, lol.

At a glance it does look like a recipe for the non-native speakers. What's got my attention is what's on the bottom right... what are the characters immediately before the "3912"?
Oops sorry, forgot to include that! Those characters ("bangou") mean "number". So this is likely recipe #3912.

Ocean Bottom Crab What about the ocean bottom crab. Is that an actual type? I've never heard of that. Perhaps that is pointing in some direction.

maybe the "deep sea" ingredient dwells in the same depth as the "deep sea" crab. I'm about 99.999% sure they dont put crab in a slusho.

Hmm. Well, the Slusho history does say the secret ingredient has to be kept very cold, so that's similar to this recipe. And there is a crab at the bottom of the Slusho history page. This certainly seems to link to Slusho in some peripheral way at least.

Ooh, you're right! That is probably much better translated as "deep sea crab". Literally it says "crab from the bottom of the ocean", and I wasn't sure what the more specialized english name might be, so I left it literal.
It may be hinting that this guy is pulling things from the same region of the sea that the monster is going to come from. So maybe there is some connection after all...

There is a picture of a deep-sea crab here:

I should have done a little more research before posting my translation. ^^; But I was in a hurry to get it out there..
