EDIT: I don't know why but I don't feel as though this guy is ingame. I know, the odds are against me, but it's just this feeling in my gut....

You could be right.
All this direct information all of a sudden doesn't quite fit.
But this seems to be a bit too detailed and fitting for a gamejack.
Who knows?
I'd keep an eye peeled, just in case.

His educational background includes a major in english and a minor in creative writing . I think it is probably OOG.

Yeah, I'm thinking so after that.
But then again. You need to be a pretty creative writer to PM a good ARG....
I'm not saying "ZOMG IT'S IG!!!!!!!!!111"
I'm just saying, let's keep an eye on it, just in case....

Well, maybe this blog was just to test his writing skills? It's likely, becuase it is sooooo written like a book that i think it was just a little test...
Maybe even a homework assignment for his college....

Lakota Legend In looking into Lakota legend I found the Deity "Iya". He is described as the god of Storms.
Quote:
He is the younger brother of Iktomi, and the pair comprises the two progeny of Inyan, the creator, who is the head of the Lakota pantheon.
Ik"TOM"i (Tom 2 Man)? Storms on the weather map?
Edit: Info on brother "Iktomi".
Quote:
Lakota mythology is a living belief system, still subscribed to by both the Lakota and some outsiders, including Caucasians. There is a prophecy that stated Iktomi would spread his web over the land. Today, this has been interpreted by some contemporary Native Americans to mean the telephone network, and then the internet and world wide web. Iktomi has been considered by the Lakota from time immemorial to be the patron of new technology, from his invention of language he gave to the people to today's modern inventions, such as the computer or robots. Many Lakota today consider Iktomi to be the god of the Europeans, who (they claim) seem to readily follow in his (to them) bizarre behavior and self entrapping tricks.

True, he might have figured out where we went to before us and used what he saw as his inspiration.
Which tells me he's a genius.
Or a PM...

His profile picture is of a supernova - the death of a star/sun. It certainly fits the game mo.
EDIT: Though, looking at the comments he's made on other profiles, I'd say it's not part of the game. Just a massive coincidence.

Well so far we have two things to call this guy:
In-Game Character
or an Author
We can't call him a gamejack, becuase it is definetly WAAAAAAAAAAY to well written and drawn out to be so...
Which do you think he is?

I'm thinking IG character, but I'm open to the possibility of Author.
It's just that his writings FIT SO MUCH into the map on the flash, and the sun, and the X:33 post times....

//Completely offtopic
I've always wanted to go in and do a game-jack on a low quality game that's better than the game. -yes, is a weirdo with silly aspirations-
// end off topic
Anyway, here's some info about GOES
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geostationary_Operational_Environmental_Satellite
And I found another sight with this to say:
Quote:
The GOES 12 and 13 spacecraft each carry a sophisticated Solar X-ray Imager to monitor the Sun’s X-rays for the early detection of solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and other phenomena that impact the geospace environment.
The sun again. Possibly some sun related catastrophe? Whether it be global warming as someone suggested earlier, solar flares, etc.

It's very possible this was just a creative writing exercise that got upscaled to ARG and the blog wasn't meant to be IG.
It'd be hard to fudge the dates and number of friends he has, retroactively.
It's not uncommon to see this. Like the Incunabula story being reused in the Chasing/Catching The Wish ARGs.
