Okay, just rename this the Majestic reminiscence thread.
Another article . Good explanation with screenshots for those interested in a little ARG history.

I remember the phone number thing. Seems to me that I got calls from a few different area codes, and I had to call a couple of different places.

I wish they would have done this better. Majestic could have been all that they said, maybe if EA wasn't the one to do it, maybe not. I remember being at work and my cell phone ringing. My co-workers thought I was crazy when I'd get all excited, THE game was calling me, yay! and then I'd have to wait until I got home to find out what was going on. After awhile though, only having 15 minutes of interaction each night was not enough game time.
I'm just glad that I was a part of it and ended up here!

I lived alone at the time so I didn't really have to worry about explaining strange phone calls to anyone. I remember one day when my dad came over to help me paint my bathroom. I went out to get us some lunch and when I got back he was a little confused as to why some guy was calling me talking about secret account stuff. He said the guy was really rude also because he wouln't even let him get a word in edgewise. It wasn't easy explaining to him that it was a recording that was calling me because of a game.

I googled Majestic just to see if any of the old sites were still up, haven't found any yet but I did find this:

Did we really get into it that much?!

Good times...then EA started the game. I remember playing through it and right near the end they finally started the demo. I signed up even though I knew what to expect already.
The call came at 1 am. I wasn't the one who answered the phone. In the morning I get a note about "how there had been a call and a woman screaming and not to go somewhere and what the hell was I into?!"
