It seems like it is a simple substitution cipher, but I can't be sure. There are, by my count, six strips missing, making decryption annoying. I'm working with the following transcription

Code:

TBH TQS-- TBH
WBDT- QL R QUKR
TBQLU ABRK
-QSKC DRO YLU WDII
BDKC -B- QLRH
KUJPHQ 3 SMH SOH
JSDI

but I'm sure it's wrong in places. The missing strips make both figuring out word divisions and the right letters a nightmare.

My interpretation of the letters

Code:
TBH TQSxI x TBH
V/WBDTXI QL KR QUKR
TBQLU AB RK
BQSKCxDRC YIxU WDII
BDKC VBx QLRH
KUJPH Q 3 S MF SO/QH
JSDI

x = missing letter, very unclear letter, or possible blank space
x/x = two possible letters

Pictures are Private now

Ben said in an email this morning that his Dad is getting suspicious so Ben made it private. Unfortunately, HHR hasn't added anyone as a contact yet. Here is the best view I captured last night.

HHR's shredded paper2

Ben found 3 more strips so we might get an update tonight.

Maybe one of you guys can suggest that Ben sign-up for his own flickr account, one his dad doesn't know about. That way he can post any of his findings without dad becoming suspicious.

Oooh, good idea

I just fired this one off to him:

Hey Ben - Here's an idea!
Can you start your own Flickr account to post the stuff you don't want you dad to see? If you don't link it back to your mom's, you don't use your real name, and you don't tell your dad, then he won't know it is there. That way you can post stuff for me & the other folks trying to find your mom and he won't get suspicious. Meanwhile, keep looking for stuff with your mom in it to post on her account (with happy messages to him).
What do you think?
Heather

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it's simple substitution, but the missing strips make it kinda tricky... (and i believe there are 2 consecutive strips missing between the G and I (bottom alphabet) which threw me off for quite awhile) the dashes below are missing/unclear letters, underscores are letters where the double missing strips would be...

Code:
TBH TQS-I _L TBH
the trail  o the

WBDT- QL_-R QUKR
white ro es runs

TBQLUAB R_K
through s n

-QSKODRO_ Y-U WDII
francisc  you will

-DKC -B--_  QLRH
find  h te  rose

KUJPHQ 3 S_MHSOH
number 3 a  eace

JSDI
mail

not 100% but i believe the message is: the trail to the white roses runs through san francisco find white rose number 3 at peace mail

the peacemail could be peacemail.com or peacemail.org

if ben posts the additional strips that he found, it'll solidify the solve a bit more

If you google peacemail.com you find yourself at the care2 website. A quick search for Timothy Mann, and you get his profile.

*edit

I tried seaching for the name white rose, found a couple of people that didn't seem to fit, but searching for rose white, I found this. Her location doesn't seem to fit, but check out the simple url in the upper right hand corner. I sent her a message asking if she was a sammeeeee.

**edit
Apparently we have found the correct whiterose3. I just got a reply to my message.

To further confirm enaxor's find of http://my.care2.com/whiterosethree being in game.

For a little while this was added to the page "Saving Peeps" just above "female, age 43" but then was removed.

After initial contact with whiterose3 I explained how I found her and why.

Sorry I scared you, but I'm trying to help Happy Rogers find Peeps. A friend of mine solved a message that was sent to Happy Rogers and the trail led to you. Right now Happy Rogers and friends are being held by a man called Alan Johnson. Anything you can tell me that will help in their rescue would be great.

danteIL noted that an old Otis Elevator location is on that San Francisco landmark list. Coincidence? It seems notů

Hey all,

99% lurker, but I live in SF and could probably get myself down that way in the next day or two. One caveat is that I am ARGtech challenged (no camera other than the one in my phone and nary a scanner to be had) so I may not be able to provide good enough images of what I get. But if nobody else around SF can make it I'm happy to be any port in a storm:)
