[Edit: This may have belonged in the puzzle thread but to me it was just normal discussion stuff. I assumed the last one was in the puzzle area because how to get the data was a mystery..
Also I was really excited because I got them converted before anyone seemed to have noticed they existed :) ]

From the visit the "man" (which we think may be minotaur) payed beth at her house. That piece of AI, is either highly interested in her because he has seen her at glitch places, or its in his programming to visit her.

He got her home address from the information in her PDA...if he can put info there, he can read info from her PDA

As beth was reasonably close to the Alabama event, does this confirm that the sdu values above are in miles, as previously discussed?

Beth was kind enough to finally tell us that she was in Washington for her second event in her email (thank you Beth):

[EDIT: Her little boxes archive entry actually is more specific, placing it near Cora, WA and the Cascade Vortex]

emc2 wrote:
In both Alabama and Washington, a man was present for the events.

The translocation away from the Bats/AI Man event in Washington (halloween) when the data was left on the PDA had a r=258 sdus. We still don't know what that unit is, but it is just about 250 miles as the crow flies from Umatilla National Forest to Redxxxd, Umatilla is still my best guess for where she was, and we now know that the next place AI man appears is at her house. However, the direction from Umatilla to Redxxxd is NW, so the only way this works out is if theta=84 is relative to AI man's facing, or they use very strange direction for the origin of theta angles.

[EDIT: Umatilla turned out to not be correct. She was south of Rainer National Park, near Cora, WA and the Cascade Vortex. So the theory that sdus in the context of translocation might possibly be miles is now without evidence. It's not kilometres either ... it's only about 130 kilometres or about 80 miles between Cora, WA and Redxxxd, WA as the crow flies]

However, the sdus from the new files don't support this hypothesis completely. Have a look:

Code:
<communication protocol="cg://ara9975.lka18383">
   <bootstrap interop="standard" value="true"/>
   <interware status="err259"/>
   <message type="response"/>
   <data>
      <a>
         <object ref="speaker" class="human"/>
      </a>
      <b>
         <object ref="self" class="construct"/>
      </b>
      <separation units="sdu" x="3.0" y="4.1" z="0.2"/>
      <result vis_range="true" recurrence_count="2"/>
   </data>
   <recognition data_retrieval="success" heuristic_image_parsing="success" image_matching="success" result="success"/>
</communication>

I think what we're seeing there is AI man is separated from Beth by 3 sdus is the x-direction, 4.1 in the y-direction, and 0.2 in the z-direction (he's a step below her, outside?). Beth is speaking to AI man (message from speaker to self) and they are close enough together that they are in visual range. So here, sdus cannot be very far.

Maybe sdus are 'standard' in the context of the particular function ... an sdu in the context of a translocation is miles (with polar coords), while in the context of describing separation an sdu is something different and smaller (feet, meters, yards with cartesian coords)?

Put it all together v2.0

Since y'all liked the document I whipped up for Beth's first PDA, I present to you a repeat performance for round 2.

This one is a join of Beth's e-mail to Phillip and her new PDA files.

Again, BOLD is Beth's own words, italics are the timestamp of the file that corresponds to her convo, and then the file is in Courier New.

I am still using the crappy Word format, but nobody complained that much, so here it goes again...

BTW, feel free to comment or change where her statements go. This was just a rough guess as to where all the code goes. I like the "Animal, Vegetable, Mineral" one best Smile

Cheers!

What's good for AI man isn't what's good for Beth

Code:
<action type="translocation">
         <translocation>
            <vector type="classified" parameters="classified"/>
            <method id="classified"/>
         </translocation>

I like how AI man marked his translocation away from this event as 'classified' so Beth (and we ... although we have our suspicions) won't know where he went.

This guy has no manners ... he just shows up at Beth's house, but he doesn't want her showing up at his? Laughing Well, she may just go to his house regularly, he just doesn't want her to know it ...

I like the idea of sdu scaling. it provides the loose XML type of generalization that the AI uses to catalog events.

some possible expansions of sdu:
Scaling Distance Unit
Standard Distance Unit

Oh my gods, AI man wants Beth to fix him!!!! He must be aware that she is a programmer, or knows programmers - his language capabilities are corrupted, his memories are corrupted, and he wants her help! She's figured out the comms method, for which he congratulates her, and when she asks what he wants from her....He also admits that he is a construct (object ref="self" class "construct"), which to me implies that he is, in fact, something to do with the matrix rather than Minotaur - which backs up my thought that he was a program from the machine world rather than the Metacortex AI (whose existence, to be honest, is still questionable, let's face it).

And here he leaves - why? Because a search program is running looking for....what? Him? Or just exiles in general? He leaves without letting Beth know where, as the search program is imminent. Perhaps he has to lose himself through a back door - I think as this goes on we'll see this guy go through a door, Beth will give chase and he will have mysteriously disappeared - but it's only a broom cupboard, where can he have gone? LOL!

She says in her e-mail to Phil that she hasn't actually figured it out - she lies to the mystery man about it.

The last few snippets of code offer more insight into his existence, I think. She asks if he is Animal, Mineral or Vegetable and he says no, but I am indeed real. (So he doesn't exist in the "real world" but he does exist.)

He uses some code called eta estimation of a trend analysis and the result is imminent. So that means he anticipates some kind of "personal event" which causes an alert. To me that says that he knows Katgirl (or her mom, or whatever) is coming, and he needs to leave.

It just occurred to me that "Minotaur" and "Monitor" sound very similar (and could easily be mistaken for one another if the speaker had an unusual accent or the listener was in the wrong state of mind). Possibly nothing, but I thought I would bring it up.
