[SPEC] of the W.A. variety. Maybe we should confine all WiBS wildarse speculation (W.A.S.) to unfiction and only post on the IG boards when we have a realistic theory, or ask the IG characters via PM. That said, don your aluminum coated choice of head-wear.
The following too-big tome is in regards to my W.A.S. about any feud or other relationship between Tuck's relatives and Ben stove.
First of all, it might be a good idea to read doomcrayon's (where is doom?) what we know .
Tucker's Dad
- Never supportive of Tucker's search for Ben Stove.
-- Removed Finnish article from fridge after Mom. put it up there, "loses" laminated copy of article.
-- He thinks (the WiBS board) is crazy. (Kinda taken out of context )
Tucker's Mom (hereafter known as Mom. )
- Uncomfortable discussing the Stove family.
- Spurs Tucker to remember as a kid, adults occasionally discuss "problems with the Stoves".
- When asked about Ben she says "I just hope he's found peace wherever he is.
- States that "Tucker's Aunt and Uncle's was out by Tuck's grandparent's then."
- Mom drops (IMO) a metaphorical bomb when she posted that she drove out past the old Stove farm and said "When the Darby's still lived out there, it was different. Nobody could compete with the Stove's. Their house may have looked dim, but the land put everyone elses to shame. Tucker's grandpa used to complain about it all the time, said it made him look bad. He'd be pleased to know that his farm puts the Stove's to shame today."
Blog
- Ben's parents killed in a fire in 1961.
- Scarecrow decapitated and hung upside down, mid-80's
- Supposed MiB's snap a photo with Tucker outside the diner where he met Ben, print it out and put it in Mom.'s mailbox.
Ben's tragedies and farm problems
- From 1986 Farm troubles letter:
-- "It would appear, that since my farm had such a good yield this year, that I have "single- and under-handedly" dropped the price of soy and corn in the great state of Iowa."
-- "I also have my neighbors making a complaint about my irrigation ditches. I've had inspectors out here twice to look at the ditches. I got the feeling they were trying to find something to fine me for."
-- "I've got a collection of village idiots doing everything they can to sabotage my farm because they are jealous."
-- "Paul Stuyvesant threatened to bring the FAA to write me tickets because he said my solar panels are blinding him when he flys. He's really angry because I don't use his crop dusters."
-- "Someone also slashed the tires on the combine. And when I had Earl Rind out to fix it, he didn't come too quickly. Took him 2 days. He wouldn't have done that to anyone else, I know it."
- From Crops seized letter.
-- "And it gets worse. I took her to the university hospital for her check-up and treatments. We didn't get back until early evening and already there were a swarm of FDA people around the silo."
-- "They seized my crops, Doctor. Seized them! I thought for sure that all the rumors about my fertilizer was just town talk. Not anymore. Someone convinced them it was worth looking into. Next thing I know, agents are taking my harvest as a 'precaution'."
-- "My insurance doesn't cover confiscation as a loss. I'll be in the same boat I was in after the tornado: unable to collect."
W.A.S. Concerning the Darby's (not Tucker though)
- Tucker's meeting with Ben was in Newton, supposed MiB's taking photos and personally dropping it into Mom.'s mailbox. Mom. slips up here.
- Tucker's Dad knew where the meeting with Ben Stove was taking place, he snapped the photo of Tucker and placed the photo in his own mailbox.
- Tucker's Dad is a MiB? What does he do for a living? Mom. said she was going to call Dad at work, so he is employed...but where?
- Mom. uncomfortably says she hopes Ben has found peace, was it because her family/friends/neighbors literally drove him out of town?
- BIG TIME W.A.S. Tucker's Grandfather and/or Uncle Jack and/or Uncle Jim and/or Tucker's Dad were the ones who harassed Ben and reported him to the FDA?
- BIG TIME W.A.S. Ben's parents killed in a fire that began as a prank/harassments by Dad and his brothers?
- Scarecrow decapitated and hung upside down by the Darby brothers?
Even if any of the above W.A.S. is true, does it really get us anywhere? I'll answer that, probably not. It may help fill-in some backstory I suppose.
Post up your theories.

That's some mightyfine reasoned spec there regarding Paw Tucker, Sh1ft. I like it. Especially in light of Debunkette's recent activities.
It doesn't quite explain the NY library note/meeting and the interception of the Florida package, unless Paw Tucker has friends scattered across the nation. (not unlikely)
Now for my WAS. Maybe the MIB's are the big-oil lobby attempting to keep Ben's secret of potential corn based fuel away from the public. Or not.

Here's another WAS:
GM is behind the whole thing. (in a "this is a game about a game way")
Ben left Iowa to go work for them in Detroit to develop their corn based E85 fuel program.
Tucker was suckered in by conspiracy theory to generate buzz.
The painting was planted after the fact.
It's a whole "out of game" game scenario.
Ouroboros.

Boy oh boy am I glad I tagged this as W.A.S.! Debunkette is off to The Motor City to uncover the truth behind the mystery. (To meet with somebody that apparently doesn't answer their phone.)
Apparently Tucker's father is not a MiB, but it's interesting to think of Tucker's dad and uncles activities as one of the primary reasons behind his leaving town.
EDIT: Got Ben and Tucker mixed up.

Audi?
I'm gonna vote........Darth Vader.
Hmm, no.... the Wonder Duck?
Actually, i'm thinking....the MIB...whoever that is.... The car manufacturers who are against Ethanol? (big oil sounds like a good guess)

I've been familiarizing myself with CTW over the the past few days and I came across this site. It links from an IG character's site. What struck me was how similar the symbol in the upper left hand corner is to our ethanol symbol...especially the hand drawn ones on the SitC. site.
Logical guess: Same designer/artist working on both games.
Really Heavy spec: The end of WiBS will lead us to the beginning of Catching the Wish.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you check out Dave's personal site you will see that WIBS? is just one of many games that he has worked on.
While that is one possiblitiy, one of the PM's was involved in may other ARG campaigns as well, including "Art of the Heist" for Audi and Change Agents.
My personal opinion on the heavy speculation: I don't think so. The flavor vibe I am getting from WIBS? is very different from the one for the original CTW, and the info currently available for the current trail head for the CTW followup.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The game may have overlap with the PMs, but that may be the only place it overlaps.
Edit:
Frequency 23's icon is a lot like an Amino-indole, specifically Tryptophan with an extra group tacked on the other side of the Benzene ring. Without knowing the exact members of the ring structure fused to the benzene molecule, it will be difficult to give it a specific name. And researching it without that specific information is about as lucky as taking buck shot and having a specific pellet hit a specific board in the wall of a barn.
Edited again:
OK that came out sounding rather heavy handed didn't it? Sorry Blue, sometimes I just let my fingers type and hit send without thinking about that.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
But you are correct, one of the PM's is involved with both games.
If you want to connect the two though, you are going to have to find more places of overlap than that, before I will agree with the heavy speculation.
Oh and nice catch, you are thinking outside the box, which is always a good thing.
additional spoilers added to protect the innocent from curtain issues.

...uh, no.

Heavy-handed? That was a love tap. All caps with a few exlpletives thrown in...now that would be heavy-handed!
What I should have said is that I believe that I recognize the artist's hand in both of the symbols. I also made the assumption that top games share top talent. Calculated guess, to be sure.
Game overlap: More of a "Wouldn't it be cool if...probably not going to happen, but...must mention just on the off chance that it works out because no one will ever believe me after the fact" speculation than anything else. I'm sure someone's thought of it before. The stars would have to line up just so, but wouldn't it be cool if? If I was laying money, I'd go with the vibe of experience anyday.
I really do appreciate the input, MageSteff. It really helps.
