Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Put A-D-F-G-V-x as row and column headings on the daedalus page. Sub each character of the icarus page code with the row/column heading. (for example "veopdt" would become DV FD FX GX DF FG) So you end up with this string of text consisting only of the letters ADFGVX:
DV FD FX GX DF FG DX XF XF FA GG FX FF FF GD XX GG VX FF DF FF FA FX AF
XG FF FX VV DD DF AF FF GD XD FV FV VD DD FF XA FD GD VA VG FG FF GF DF
XG FF AG GF FV DV VD DD FA XF FA GG FV FF FX GD FD XA FF DX DG GD AG DG
DF GD GG XF DF DF DX VF GD FG DG FD XD GD DD XX VG DX FG XD GG XF DF DF
DD VD XA GD GD XF GD FD FD XD XF DD GX VV FG AX FD DA FG FD XA GD GX XG
GD FG DG VX AX AG DG XV XF XX GF DX XA DG
Transpose the resulting text using GRAVES as the key (I think it's called irregular columnar transposition). You'll end up with a different string of text still only made up of the letters ADFGVX:
GD DX XX FX VF AF FD FD FG GG DD XX FG FA GD DD XF FG FA GG FG XG XF FX
GD DD XF FG FX VD FD FA VF AF GG DD GG DD DF GD XG DD FG XX FD FG FX AV
VX XG FD DF FG FX VD FD FA VF AF GG DD GG DD DF GD XG DD FG DD FX XV FX
AV FX VF XF FA FG FG FX VD FD FA VF AF GG DD GG DD DF GD XG DD FG XX FX
VF GV FD FD GX XX FX VF AF FD XX FD XG FX DD GD FG GG DD DF DX FD FD VV
DX FX AV XX FX VF AV FA GG FG AD FA FD FG
Using each pair of text as "coordinates" (row-column) on the daedalus page, sub again. For example, GD DX XX FX VF would be IF YOU. The whole quote ends up to be "if you meet anything thats going to be human and isnt yet or 1sed tg be human and isnt now or ought to be human and isnt you keep youm eyes on it and feel for your hatchet"
The typos are probably my mistake when subbing or transposing but I'm too lazy to go back to recheck. The proper quote is supposed to be "when you meet anything that's going to be Human and isn't yet, or used to be Human and isn't now, or ought to be Human and isn't, you keep your eyes on it and feel for your hatchet". It's by CS Lewis and leads us to http://www.mythosphere.org/cslewis.html

Wow, grumpyboy - excellent going!
Apart from seeing a vague winged figure in the red picture, I was going to get nowhere close to this one, so thanks.

solve Wow...good job!
I've certainly learned a lot over the past 8-9 months here, but not enough to figure that out. Could you give a little synopsis of the thought process behind it, or was it trial and error?
Just trying to add to the things I know to look for...versus the million things I don't.

Great job!! Holy cow!! That was awesome. Thank you. For once, I didn't stay up late last night trying to try and figure it out. Thank goodness. I never would have gotten all that.

On the Cslewis page at mythosphere, Numbered Ones are in bold. So I went to www.cluesearch.com and did a search on Numbered Ones, with and without quotes. I get the message "Forbidden" on both searches. Hummmm.
But when I do a search on Google, all kinds of stuff come up. Esp. translations about the book of the Bible, Numbers. Nothing makes sense to me though.

Actually, you get a forbidden no mater what you search. I suspect that it's fallout from the server problems they have been having.

"Their number is ten, in circles of three and seven, surrounding the void that feeds and possesses them" said the guides. I guess we can find the numbered ones in the grafitti map (SPEC). But what are they surrounding? any ideas?

Could be referring to the Tree of Life and the Daath sefiroth:

Quote:
In addition to the 10 sefiroth, there is another 'phantom' circle on the tree, daath. This represents the void, the cosmic abyss between the highest trinity and the sevenfold creation beneath it.

I get the rest of it, but I can't get the transposition to work. Using GRAVES as the key, I have tried a number of different irregular columnar transpositions, but get different results. Could you fill in the details, or point me toward info on the transform you are using? Thanks.
