Let's say, for example, that I hack the account of one of the major players, we'll say Marcus. Now, I have access to all of Marcus' e-mails. If I'm not an Ideltech employee, I have access to the Ideltech boards. I also may have the ability to masquerade as Marcus to other characters. Or other players. The solution ot this puzzle is not merely a pathway into more of the world to explore, it is a tool to change that world.

It may give one the tools to change something, but I'm still of the opinion that one wouldn't be able to hack the email account unless the PM took into account and designed that likelihood (incorporating the possibility of change - or the illusion thereof - in the first place).

Now I've confused myself.

Speaking from a computer security perspective, that makes me sad. Sad

Remember both Mu and Beekeepers had servers hacked. Wink

Banana liquer, and a dash of kahlua. I stole the recipe from a restaurant, I think they called it the Hot Chocolate Monkey.

Oh I've got a better one! I had this really yummy drink at a holiday party last week. Egg nog and Kahlua! It was, as my friend Nancy called it, "an alcoholic's protein shake".

Awwww, don't be sad. I didn't mean "wouldn't be able to" able to...only "wouldn't be able to" as used in the general sense in ref to us mere common folk.
Wink

Nothing can be completely protected, I know that. But generally speaking you can take a whack of precautions to help avoid the possibility of a hack. (Or am I talking thru my hat here?)

I guess what I'm saying is that if a PM uses "password" as a password, it's reasonable to assume the hack was a prepared possibility and that a line of thought or plot already conceived of (at least in some form) would follow.

And even if one did hack into Marcus' email account after the PM had taken all neccessary precautions, imo - the train wouldn't be directed drastically off its track, it still has to be a reasonable course of action in relation to the storyline (imo).....hacking an email account doesn't suddenly stand one in the exalted position of GameGod. An attack can throw monkey wrenches into the game in more ways than one....but would it have an actual effect on the big picture? I doubt it.

But maybe I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time) and what's being said is that if you do hack an email account (or something similar) then it will have a radical effect on the outcome or course of the game, but for that to happen it still has to be a conceived notion no?

Maybe it's all about internal agility......and to the best of my knowledge every ARG I've played has it to some degree.

I'm still confused and have probably contradicted myself numerous times, which is okay cuz Ilike doing that.

What was the question again?

Sometimes players try to flirt harmlessly with in-game characters, thereby appearing creepy.
