 Endgame
New puzzle-solving prizewinning competition.

Hi! Not 100% sure this is the right place to put this, but I can't find anything on here already. That might be more due to my poor Google-fu, though.

Endgame, at http://www.thisisendgame.com/ is at least one book, probably more, possible movie tie-in, app, links to Ingress through Niantic Labs, all sorts of stuff; it's apparently puzzle-solving fun with a $500,000 cash prize at the end of it.

I've just received my copy of the book in the post and I was wondering if anyone else was playing?

The book launched today - the launch event in NY is happening in 35 minutes from now:

Yep, there is an ARG, to my knowledge it's set as the prequel to the book. The book and its puzzle/treasure hunt are distinct from the ARG itself. The storiesa re tied, but you apparently won't need to experience one in order to sufficiently experience the other.

Keep an eye on the event though, as there may well be ARG-related stuff happening Smile

More meta details about it all are posted at http://endgameancienttruth.com

(worth merging with the other thread?)

Also, be advised, the rules are buried in a PDF hosted at http://www.endgamerules.com/
and they have language which might be intended to discourage sharing of information.

Yea, this is pretty crazy:

But, if I understand correctly, that just applies to the Book treasure/gold hunt, not to the ARG. (confusing)

EDIT: so just thinking about this furtherÖ perhaps we should have a thread specifically for the ARG separate from the Book hunt?

And it seems that there has been already some puzzles, as Stella thanks all those players that helped to solve the challange.

Where are those puzzles? What have I missed?

... and BTW. Is there a Google+ Account for Stella?

Maybe they are buried on https://keplerfuturistics.com/ -- I can't see anything there with Firefox, but the site is optimized for Chrome. The HTML source looks like I should be able to click on something? I guess I'm not going to play this one.

Some other links, for convenience...

This is what I've been able to do so far:

If you go to http://www.ancientsocieties.com under the sub-page http://www.ancientsocieties.com/pages/about-me/ Stella asks you to email her at 12ancientlinesSPLATgmail.com

If you send her an email there, you get an auto response back:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Thanks for the email. Nice to know that there are at least a few people out there who donít think Iím a ranting lunatic.

The question is Ė do you want to hear more, and in the process maybe get to know me a little better? If that's the case, Iíve included a little challenge here. If you can unravel it, then your curiosity will be rewarded.

Oh and...by the way, Iíve just made myself my own shortlink, you know, like bit.ly or goo.gl.

Mineís stl.la. Pretty easy to remember, which is good because I'll be using it a lot.

Now if I only had something to link it toÖ
[plus the attached image below]

Using the information at ancientsocieties.com to decipher the image (not very hard) you go to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

stl.la/hammock

where you see a video message that may or may not have another clue/puzzle.. I'm not sure.

And today we have a new post at http://www.ancientsocieties.com/the-rebel/

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Hey everyone! I'm finding there are things I want to share with you, my Students, but I don't want to just...put them out there for anyone to see. So I'll be posting little Challenges for those of you who are truly dedicated. When the answer is put into place, it will lead to important things. At least, important to me...

So, here we go:

-----------------------

The twelve lines are vast. They stretch across time and space. In them we find truth.

Our civilization is next in line and we can only learn these truths secondhand by studying the Shang, Nabataean, Minoian, Aksumite, Sumerian, and moreÖ

Which is solved as:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

taking the second letter of each name:

stl.la/haiku

From the Magic Show video:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
stl.la/misdirection

Also, that picture of Rebel by Camus must lead somewhere else. Not quite sure where yet.

To confirm for those who are worried about the collaboration rules. The FAQ for the Ancient Truth states that:

Quote:
Do the rules at Endgamerules.com apply to this ARG in any way? Such as forbidding the sharing of information?

No, those rules are for the puzzle hunt (contest) in the book and do not apply in any way to the ARG. In fact, collaboration and sharing of information is not only allowed, but encouraged!

there is more infor in the FAQ as well which is located here: http://www.endgameancienttruth.com/

So yes we can collaborate on anything ARG related, share solutions and work together. But as far as the puzzle in the book goes for the $500K collaboration is still prohibited.

Today's challenge:

Quote:
Iíll be honest - I wasn't sure how many people would be interested in solving my little challenges this week. But you guys are pretty good at this stuff... especially in the video challenge that you solved without even calling on your ability to see what's in plain sight . I guess Iíll have to raise my game a little bit.

And so will you. Smile

-------------------------

The reason we learn about these cultures is because they were on the vanguard of civilization and enlightenment. Many of the things they have understood have been lost to us in time. In many ways, other civilizations used them as their building blocks.

75238712287185399

Solution:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Main clue is "building blocks"

Using the periodic table
75 23 8 71 22 8 7 18 53 99
becomes revolution aries

stl.la/revolutionaries

erm, nope. That link for example is valid and active. stl.la/revolutionaries should go right to it.
