Looking at possibly making this a reality.
Me and my girlfriend occasionally do private movie nights with friends due to her being a projectionist at our local movie theater. We were talking and decided that a Tron double feature was definitely in order. This would require us to rent out a theater as well as the movies themselves. On top of that there is extra cost since we are looking to get the "Dbox" release of Tron Legacy, as well as whatever other fees they end up adding to the total. If you haven't heard of Dbox, you should look into it here https://www.muvico.com/dbox.asp
. Basically it's motion seats synced to the movie (kind of like Star Tours at Disneyland). There will be about three rows of these seats in the theater we are looking at, with a total of approximately 130 seats including normal seating.
We are still working on gathering the details on what it will cost us to make this a reality, so we can't give anything definitive on what the end cost per seat will be. If possible we would like to make this a 1 year anniversary event from when Tron Legacy was originally released, but we are not sure how realistic it would be to get it all prepared within that time frame. Basically I am looking to get an idea how how many people would be interested in attending this so we can figure out overall costs.
As of right now the location is planned for Thousand Oaks, CA (about 30/45 minutes North on the 101 from Los Angeles.
Just got a seat count:
113: Normal Seats
36: Dbox Seats
Not all of these seats will be made available since some of our direct friends that will be helping with setup will get "dibs", plus I would like to set aside a few for some of the bigger names on the forums.
